CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is a University in Bangalore, Karnataka. Established in 1969 as Christ College, the institution was given the status of deemed-to-be University in 2008.
The University provides courses from Bachelors to doctoral programmes in humanities, social sciences, science, commerce, management, engineering, education, and law to over 18000 students. It publishes six peer-reviewed research journals and has published more than 300 books in Kannada and English. A promoter of sports, music and literary activities, it is a nurturing ground for creative excellence.
CIS-A2K at the Centre for Internet and Society is a movement partner of the Wikimedia Foundation in India. From 2012, it is working towards catalysing the growth of the open knowledge movement in South Asia and in Indic languages. Currently, the CIS-A2K team works with over 4 focus language areas (Kannada, Marathi, Odia and Telugu) and 1 focused project area. CIS-A2K also provides general support to Wikimedia and other Open knowledge communities in India.
The Wikipedia & Education User Group is a global group that facilitates, supports, and advocates for implementing Wikipedia and its sister projects into the educational and academic curricula in both the Wikimedia Movement and outside of it, in the Open Education and Open Knowledge movements.
