Institutional Partnerships (Ongoing)

edit

TAKEN: TITO

This year the strategy will be to partner with colleges where they have language, journalism and communication as a course. These students will be better candidates to write on Wikipedia. Tumkur University, Hampi University are the colleges where this partnership has been already initiated and will be rolled out. These colleges have students who have come from rural Karnataka and have studied in their mother tongue medium till high school. Most of them aim to become a journalist in native language media or a language teacher. Hence they will be best suited candidate to edit Wikipedia. More such colleges and institutions will be targeted. The partnership with Christ University will be continued and the number of activities in which the students are involved will be increased in the upcoming year also.

Plan

edit

To rope in 2 -3 institutions to make contributing to Wikisource and Wikipedia part of their curriculum. Create awareness about the importance of Wikipedia among the teaching community and involve some faculty in rolling out the Wikipedia in Education Program.

Execution

edit
  • Creating separate project pages for each engagement (single workshop or a set of workshops as a single entity)
  • Creation of articles by students in their username space (sandbox pages) or draft namespace
  • Evaluation based on language, length, references from CIS-A2K
  • Notifying the community for a review process of articles written by students as the quality of the Wikipedia should be maintained.
  • If there is a publication in these universities, re-license them under CC-BY-SA and use them on wikisource.
