Hello everyone!

Thanks to Sae who scheduled the ND-Meetup at Wikimania 2024 and thanks to everyone who attended! I have never created a usergroup before, but together we will manage. For the first steps I set up this page in my BNR, until we have figuered out what are the next steps. Please feel free to add and edit! :)

Gathering group members

edit

To create a usergroup, we need at least 3, best 10 users that fulfill the following criteria (source: Wikimedia_user_groups) :

1. ACTIVE ACCOUNT

  • 500 or more contributions to a Wikimedia project OR
  • Wikidata: 800 or more edits
  • in a year preceding the application on a registered account
  • accout that has existed for at least 6 months

2. REPUTATION

  • good community standing (not currently suspended or prevented from participating)

Big Ideas

edit

Based on our input I created this mindset and these three main topics.
Next steps:

  1. we agree to these goals
  2. We start to draft out a precise wording of these goals. I would set up an etherpad for us.

Mindset & Goals

edit

Mindset: POSITIVE
a group with positive vibes that do not consider us "to have a problem",

1. SHOW US: show that there are and how many there are of neurospicy identities (all kinds of) in the Wikimedia Community

  • show the impact/contribution of ND users in the Wikimedia Community
  • support ND newcomers to the Wikimedia Community

2. COMMUNICATE NEEDS online & offline: express wishes for real life meetings concerning sensorial input (e.g. noise, lights...) and make constructive suggestions to event organizers to accommodate our needs better (alternative to noisy activities, quiet focus activities, tips to help us interact with others... be included in any research into modifications or changes made (technical or training) to the platform

3. SUPPORT: support each other when one of us experiences harrassment because of ND

Input

edit
  • This is vague - for instance it is not clear how "support ND newcomers" would work and the same for "experiences harassment". Not everything needs to be codified indeed, but some clarity would be expected. Also I find the use of the word "neurospicy" odd - it isn't a term I've come across before and the same applies to my language checker. Leaderboard (talk) 08:50, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
Yes, it is vage. But it is the first draft. We are getting into more specific wording later.
The term "neurospicy" is common to me. It is more cool, more legère than "neurodiverse". DomenikaBo aka Gerd   16:03, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

This is a quick and dirty version of what it could look like. The text would be underneath of course.
