Preliminary work

  • Since mid of june 2005 I worked a little bit in my own private lab on a Main page (User:Dundak/Hłowna strona), and tried to find some fellow contributors on some sorbian websites and forums.
My intention was to start with one Wikipedia in both Upper and Lower Sorbian and to split later to bundle forces, but several users were against this and decided to work on two separate Wikipedias (cf. Special:Undelete/Test-WP/wen and its history), so on
  • December 8, 2005 I launched the Main page in Upper Sorbian [3], predecessor was by an IP, who tried to help a little bit, but the language was almost incomprehensible.
  • December 20, 2005 User:Nepl launched the Lower Sorbian Main page [4]

First articles

December 2005/January 2006 first contributors showed up: Nepl – a native speaker – and Zak – a native speaker – , we got also help from some Czech speaking contributors like User:Reo On and User:Dezidor - we appreciated this very much!

Bug request on Mediazilla

On April 22, 2006 I filed a bug request on Mediazilla [5] asking for the setup of Hsb and Dsb

What I did in the meantime

Between end of May and August 3, 2006 I worked a lot in Betawiki to translate the Upper Sorbian User interface [6], which took me a lot of time, so I was not able to contribute to the Sorbian Wikipedias.

On October 1, 2006, the Wikipedia in Upper Sorbian finally was created. Lower Sorbian was not, because users voted initially on only one Wikipedia.
