Hi, I come here every so often, and this time I'm here to ask if others were aware of a problem with the software, and you're an admin according to Recent changes, so I was hoping you could help. I noticed that pages with FA status or that have alot of edits over a short time tend to have a scroll bar around 1/4 the width of the browser window, and the screen is far too large. For the sake of keeping a discussion together, I'll check back to see if you've posted here for another day or two, so you needn't post on my talk page. Yamakiri 22:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and I've heard of Bugzilla, but I don't put my email out to anything, though it is a Wikiproject.Yamakiri 22:20, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I'm not sure if I got your point right... What is FA status?? Featured article?? Not here on Meta. Could you maybe explain what exactly you mean? (A link would be nice.) --Thogo (talk) 22:22, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Featured Article is correct, well, on [en.wikipedia.org en.wiki] there's Parlament house Cantabera, and on just the [www.wikipedia.org opening page] there's a scroll bar at the bottom. There was light discussion a while back on the Main talk page on En.Wiki, but it's a month or two back in the history. Sorry about the late response, piano practice... Yamakiri 22:46, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok... And now, how can I help? Btw., I don't see any scroll bar there. --Thogo (talk) 22:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Really? On IE, even the history of parlament house? 9pm here, tomorrow.Yamakiri 22:51, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Hm, which parlament house?? On www.wikipedia.org? 9pm?? o.O Are you somewhere in the mid of the Atlantic Ocean? --Thogo (talk) 22:56, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Cantabera (if I spelled it right) yes, on Wikipedia. And? Yes, but exactly where you may not know unless you're so smart you can track me down to the small little British colony. Is there somewhere to report a bug? Or do you even notice it? Just on the page with the links to the languages at least.Yamakiri 10:59, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, but I don't know what you mean. Please provide a link to the page with the bug and explain exactly what the problem is. --Thogo (talk) 11:02, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

My proof of the scroll bar on Wikipedia.org - Image:Scroll bar on www wikipedia org.JPG - The problem? Look at the image... And sometimes previously featured candidates have the same bar. It goes away after a day or two and comes back at random intervals, but the wikipedia.org page always stays that way. Image:Scroll bar on www wikipedia org.JPG

Ah, ok. Hm, I don't see any scroll bar if I go to www.wikipedia.org. But I use 1280x1024, maybe that's the reason. And you definitely use the wrong browser. Try a free one, such as Opera or FireFox. They are much better than IE. I don't think that's a bug in the MediaWiki software. Another reason could be that there is a mistake on the www.wikipedia.org template, but I'm now away for a couple of days, so I can't check it right now. You can ask on Talk:Www.wikipedia.org template, they might be able to help you faster. --Thogo (talk) 07:36, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
It could be, that the browser of Yamakiri is not able to show some special characters correctly, and instead filling the page to the right with broken symbols. This can't be researched with the image he provided. Scroll a bit down therefore and tell us, if everything shows up allright until the bottom of the page, thanks. I learned, that the width 1100% is causing this problem for IE7. There seem to be some good guys working on it to fix it, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 08:19, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

edit

Sorry for talking to an IP. I didn't know that was against meta rules.--Arceus fan 13:59, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

It isn't, but it has no sense to talk to a dynamic IP whose last edit is 2 days ago. The person with this IP is likely to have another one now. --Thogo (talk) 14:01, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I'm not a steward. But he seems to have stopped meanwhile. If you come across such cases, the best is to go to the #wikimedia-stewards channel on IRC, there you get quick help. Regards, --Thogo (talk) 22:26, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Volapük again

edit

As you probably know, there is another proposal about vo.wp: Proposals for closing projects/Radical cleanup of Volapük Wikipedia. The question is now different: deleting bot-created articles rather than closing the wiki. Yet the proposal seems to be yet another judgement on the viability of Volapük, judging by the arguments presented by the supporters. If you think you would like to support us, I'd be thankful. Of course, since this is a different question, I will understand and respect it if your opinion is different. Thanks! --Smeira 02:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

In fact, it is. I'm not decided if I want to support deleting the bot stuff, but I think it would probably be better for the quality of vo.wp. But since I'm not yet sure about the advantages and disadvantages of deleting this stuff, I will not make a statement on that request. --Thogo (talk) 08:24, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
