Hi, I would like to sign in suppport of the chapter. Unfortunately the page is protected due to an edit war. Could you please unprotect it in order everybody can edit. I suppose CasteloBranco and Beria will understand they should not edit that page before reaching a consensus about whether the portuguese chapter's policy might be an inspiration for brazilian one or not. I've unprotected the page now in the hope that they calmed down. Furthermore Beria has made a peace offer, so I don't see any problems in that - Hoo man (talk) 11:26, 12 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Latgalian Wikipedia

Hello, Hoo man, I am here to talk to you about adding newly created Latgalian Wikipedia ([1]) to the List of Wikipedias. In case you are wondering why I'm writing direcly to you, it's because you were the one who changed the protection level and has the last edit on the page. Thank you! --Geimeris 19:15, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tagger

Hi. Sorry for the slow response. I had a few exams in recent days. What is going on with the Tagger? I saw that you made some changes. I'll try to update the script on sr wiki :) mickit 20:08, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Micki, please notice the "DO NOT COPY AND PASTE, instead see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hoo_man/Scripts/Tagger" at the top of the script. It is far better to use the script as described here, in that way, you will receive new updates without the need to do anything. - Hoo man (talk) 21:24, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have not seen that yesterday, because I rushed. I did it properly now (I hope). Thank you very much for your help and also for this useful script. Greetings, mate! mickit 09:37, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

Hey Hoo man!

I just wanted to say thank you for logging the Central Notice change you made. We've had problems with that and until we have automated logging (I'm on Kaldari about that we will have it over the next couple months at least hopefully sooner) it's very important so that we can see what happened. By the way, not a bad banner either, much better then some of the recent ones :) Jalexander 02:07, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :) It's fine that we will have an automated log soon because some forget to log their changes (I already saw campaigns getting enabled without a log entry) furthermore it can save us some time - Hoo man (talk) 09:35, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll just use the same header :) Thanks for the help with the banner translations (especially the id link translation that someone asked about on my talk page) Jalexander 20:39, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

poty campaign

Hey Hoo man!

Thanks for logging the POTY banners. I saw your comment about the campaign not being enabled yet and just wanted to show you where it was. Obviously it's a moot point now (the banners are actually up) but I had actually 'enabled' the campaign just left it at the 00:00 start time you had put earlier. If you look at the main page you'll see the little checkbox for 'enabled' which is what I checked at 21:05 (UTC on the 18th) or so when I turned off the May Update banners. They just didn't turn on for the actual projects yet since the timer was set for 00:00 UTC on the 19th. Jalexander 02:30, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey! I saw your message on the log about turning off the POTY campaign (obviously ok) but was confused about the comment about the campaign shouldn't have been turned on with the banner issues. Which banner issues are you talking about? I believe it was Mono who asked Philippe to have them turned on and since it was your guys campaign I turned them on as set up(I actually just checked enabled and moved on other then looking to make sure the campaign did indeed have banners). Jalexander 18:37, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
The problem with the banners are mainly, that they are appearing on every page view (hadn't included a blank one), the image size was to high (63 and 81Kb), furthermore the banners are looking uggly on wide screens (the 1680 etc. wide screens). We hope that we will get all issues resolved fast, so that we can re enable the campaign ;) - Hoo man (talk) 20:32, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah they did look pretty bad on wide screens. I know that feeling from the fundraiser (We had to always make sure things would look "ok" both on wide and small screens). Good luck! Jalexander 17:52, 20 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tagger again

Hi. I made a gadget on sr.wiki today using your script. It works fine, but some things aren't translated. For example: "Edit summary", "default edit summary", "Tag page" button, "Close" button etc. Can we do something about that? It's not urgent :) Thanks in advance. mickit 00:00, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for using my script, the "Close" button can be translated using :

if(typeof(hoofrConfig) == 'undefined') hoofrConfig = {}; hoofrConfig.closeButtonText = 'abcdefghijk';

But the other examples you mentioned above should be fine, may it's an issue with you overloading your own strings in another JS file (global.js?) - Hoo man (talk) 11:23, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
You were right. It was a little mistake and I corrected it. Is it possible to translate "Please specify an edit summary" or I ask too much? BTW, here is a screenshot. mickit 13:40, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Of course not, that string can be changed using "taggerConfig.lang.giveEditSummary" now ;) - Hoo man (talk) 13:53, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh, another thing I forgot, I added you to User:Hoo_man/Scripts/Tagger#Projects - Hoo man (talk) 13:59, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot!!!! Now it looks perfect :) mickit 14:18, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Me again :) Do you have any idea why the sr.wiki gadget looks like this for some users who use IE? I don't have the same problem, neither with FF4 nor with IE8. I'm not sure what is going on. mickit 10:05, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've tested it, that only occurs on IE versions prior to IE8. I'm going to take a look at how I can fix it and do it if it isn't to much work. But IE7 is quite old, so I'm not going to waste ages on that - Hoo man (talk) 13:05, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
One of the users who complained is using IE8 and the other is using IE9. It's weird because I tested it with IE8 and everything works fine for me. mickit 13:09, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's most likely a problem with one of the 3 billion compatiblity modes in the newer IE versions. - Hoo man (talk) 13:21, 16 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I now resolved all older IE dependent bugs, but enabled those fixes only for IE7 and 6 users (according to the user agent), please report whether that fixes the problem for your users - Hoo man (talk) 15:52, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

It seems that now everything is OK. I don't know how to thank you enough   mickit 21:00, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tagger issue

Hi, Hoo man. Great work tag adder.

I'm Surya from Tamil Wikipedia. I've customized the tag adder (Tag adder project page in TaWiki) for some extra purposes like adding tags for

  1. Wikify
  2. Underconstruction
  3. copyedit
  4. translate
  5. newuser welcome
  6. anonymous welcome etc.

The tool is working in all main spaces, but when adding the welcome templates for new user & anonymous users the tool is not working. I mean the tool is working only in a page which has already created. It's not working in a new user's (talk) page. But working in all other pages.

tagger which showing many templates to choose

I hope you've understood. --Surya Prakash.S.A. 12:36, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

First I have to thank you for using my script, but please don't copy it over, instead see User:Hoo man/Scripts/Tagger for an instruction on how to use it. I'll see that I built in the above function today or at least in the next days. If you need help on using my script without copying it, please ask, but copying it over will cut you of updates - Hoo man (talk) 12:48, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok, fixed that issue in the new version 1.6.0. Please use the script as described above and you will automatically receive that and further updates - Hoo man (talk) 15:47, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

ScoWp help

I'll reply here so as not to clog up your RfGEI, or whatever the acronym is. That's just the problem - there is no coding. Most of what is there is from 2005(!). Compare simple:Template:Commonscat with the almost identical code at sco:Template:Commonscat to see what I mean. Also, there are other weird things like collapsible wikitables don't collapse. I'd think this has something to do with broken/outdated code somewhere, though I will admit I'm not a JS/CSS/MediaWikinamespace guru, so I could be wrong. :-) If you have the time, some guidance would be handy. Avicennasis 21:04, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll take care of it in the following days, trying to import everything that's needed from wikis where the JS is well maintained ;) - Hoo man (talk) 21:10, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Done, I've added the collapsible tables (from enwiki, slightly modified, to remove deprecated requirements as you can see here) and the box style (from enwiki). Please tell me if you need more stuff ;) - Hoo man (talk) 20:59, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

More than one

Is it possible to use more than one script based on the tagger on the same project? As you already know, I made a gadget and a script on sr.wiki. But if you use both of them, the gadget doesn't work. mickit 17:08, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

It yet isn't (without bad hacks) and I haven't planned on changing it. The biggest problem is, that a change would break the backwards compatibility with older configurations. I've added it to my todo list, but it wont be done fast, cause I'm going on vacation on Friday (June, 1) and keeping backwards compatibility wont be easy either (Likely I have to map the old configurations to the then new format) - Hoo man (talk) 19:13, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks anyway :) It doesn't matter. I can live with that :) mickit 21:58, 29 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Section tagging works fine :) But I still need your help with the new tagger objects. We have a gadget and a script on sr.wiki. I suppose I will have to make some changes in the script, but I'm not sure how to do that. I tried something but I failed. mickit 12:08, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mhm, the changes you did seem fine to me (this revision) and work well on my local test wiki. Have you tried clearing your cache etc.? If so, it might be a load order problem again :(. Do you get any JS errors? - Hoo man (talk) 12:22, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
When I check the gadget in my preferences I get "Брзо брисање" (speedy delete) option in the drop-down menu and with the script I get "Шаблони" (templates) option also in the drop-down menu. With this specific revision I get two "Брзо брисање" options. mickit 12:30, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
And when I uncheck the gadget I haven't got any of these options. mickit 12:33, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure, whether I understand the problem exactly, would you mind joining IRC, so that we can talk more easily? - Hoo man (talk) 12:47, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm very sorry that I bored you with this :) I know you're offered help, but still ... I'll buy you beer one day when we meet :) mickit 06:10, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

So is it working for you now (after tonights and the current bug fix)? For me it's working fine, but this change needs to be done on sr:Корисник:Micki/tagger.js as well - Hoo man (talk) 18:22, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Actually it's sr:Корисник:Micki/templates.js. No, it still doesn't work. But, I'm satisfied that the gadget works. The script is of secondary importance. mickit 20:58, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok, got the error "$(document).ready(function() { window.Templates = new tagger('Templates', taggerDefaultConfig, taggerTemplatesConfig); } );" in your templates.js must be below the definition of taggerTemplatesConfig (just put it into the last line) ;) - Hoo man (talk) 21:06, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yay, it works, it works.   I also use different templates for different namespaces and it also works fine. mickit 05:26, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tagger script 2

Hi. As I mentioned before I have included your Tagger script in my global.js-file. Then I'm importing my global.js-file locally to the different wikis. On most wikis it works great, but on some it doesn't work. Do you think that this is because of a problem in the Tagger script or it'ss because of that the global-script is not imported properly? -- Tegel (Talk) 16:11, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your global.js imports it fine, there are other reasons for those problems:
  1. On some Wikis jQuery (or other core functions) are overwritten by local JS... I and others are on fixing those, but it will take a lot of time till this is resolved in all small and mid-sized wikis. (If you see such, please leave me a notice).
  2. Some wikis may use the tagger project wide and so either disabled the default tagger instance or are overwriting it (I only know of sr.wiki doing that in a gadget)
  3. Tagger (and my other scripts) are still a bit buggy with loading from time to time (especially if you load a wiki for the first time, it might be unstable), I'm searching for the cause(s) of that, but with JavaScript that's difficult - Hoo man (talk) 18:59, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I couldn't reproduce that in Firefox 6... but I fixed a document.write which might be the cause. If that didn't fix it, please tell me which browser you're using - Hoo man (talk) 12:11, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

You said "feel free to ask me", so now I'm feeling free to ask you! :-) On some wikisources I found js errors like "Uncaught TypeError: Object #<HTMLDocument> has no method 'attachEvent'" or similar (one for example is on sr.source). I did my usual changes to the sr.wikisource JS and it should be fine now (though I couldn't see the error you gave me first, you should say which browser you used for testing), may you can see what needs to be done, but make sure to not remove stuff that's still in use. Using scripts on other wikis

Are there site configurations required for your scripts to load correctly on a non-WMF wiki? I attempted to install Smart Rollback on occupymediawiki.org/wiki/User:Amgine/vector.js, but do not see evidence the script is being loaded when using Vector. - Amgine/meta wikt wnews blog wmf-blog goog news 18:39, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well the scripts are working perfectly fine there, the problem is either that $wgAllowUserJs is set to false (you can verify this by looking into you preferences their, if "custom JavaScript" appears under appearance it's activated, if not you can eg. use Greasmonkey to load the scripts) or that there are other JS errors which break the whole page JS - Hoo man (talk) 13:09, 23 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! $wgAllowUsersJs was set to false. Just didn't think about that! - Amgine/meta wikt wnews blog wmf-blog goog news 23:20, 24 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
