Template:BS-KRZ
Hello JJMC89! One of your bots has recently made a change to this template on ro.wiki. The template didn't work as it should even before changing, but now it looks worse. Do you have any idea why? I am trying to import the route diagram templates on Romanian Wikipedia but I sometimes encounter such errors and I have no clue how to solve them. Any help or suggestion would be welcome. Thank you in advance! --Nenea hartia (talk) 20:55, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- Jc86035, would you talk a look at this? — JJMC89 21:28, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Nenea hartia: The template not working shouldn't be related to the bot's changes. The reason the template documentation doesn't work is that rowiki's Template:BS doesn't have the
|O12=
parameter, which only some versions of the template have. A lot of wikis suffer from this issue, and the BS-series templates (BS, BS2, BS3, etc.) are generally inconsistent across wikis. - You don't need to import every template (particularly the little-used ones like BS-KRZ). Strictly speaking, Module:Routemap, Template:Routemap and Template:Routemap/styles.css are the only necessary pages for constructing diagrams, although rowiki already had some of the BS-series templates before you started importing templates so I'm not sure what would be best here.
- All of rowiki's diagrams appear to use the BS-table and BS-series templates, but there aren't a lot of them. It would be possible to convert them all to the Routemap format (probably by using the convertbs function in Module:Routemap), or alternatively you could update all of the BS-series templates using the versions on the English Wikipedia. - @Jc86035: Thank you very much for your explanation! I already imported Module:Routemap, Template:Routemap and Template:Routemap/styles.css and then I randomly picked some Routemap diagrams from enwiki and I tried to see if they work on my sandbox page. They did, except for those having collapsible sections. As you can see here or here the template itself doesn't display correctly the collapsible sections. Same problem with the older Template:BS-map. If you remove the line containing
BS2-startCollapsible
, the rest of that diagram will be correctly displayed. @JJMC89: I apologize for continuing this topic on your page. --Nenea hartia (talk) 17:03, 15 February 2020 (UTC)- @Nenea hartia: This is because the Extinde/Restrânge button is wider in Romanian. I'll see if I can fix that. Jc86035 (talk) 17:19, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Another issue is that the
.wikitable
CSS is a bit different on rowiki; since it affects nested tables, the Routemap styling will break. I don't think this should affect most diagrams, though, so I'm not sure if anything needs to be done about it. Jc86035 (talk) 17:44, 15 February 2020 (UTC)- @Jc86035: I've noticed you edits, the template looks great now, thank you! Do you have any idea what is wrong with that diagram of Template:BS-map? --Nenea hartia (talk) 17:55, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Nenea hartia: It seems to be mainly because of the difference between the rowiki and enwiki versions of Template:BS-overlap. The enwiki version handles six layers, but the rowiki version only handles two, and so
|3=
is treated differently in the two templates. (Routemap, for what it's worth, does not have such a limit for overlaying icons.) I don't know if it's worth fixing, considering that this doesn't affect any of the diagrams that are actually in rowiki articles. Jc86035 (talk) 18:13, 15 February 2020 (UTC)- @Jc86035: Thank you again for your time and assistance! If I ever need help can I contact you again? Not too often, I hope.
- @JJMC89: thank you! --Nenea hartia (talk) 18:29, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
