Translation request
editHi! I noticed that you're listed at Category:Translators eng-nld and are active in translating from English to Dutch, so I have a request for you: Could you translate the standard bot policy into Dutch? The policy is used in the Dutch Wikipedia, Wikibooks and Wiktionary, and there's an ongoing discussion about implementing it in the Dutch Wikiquote as well. That's why I think it would be important to have a Dutch translation available, so that people don't have to rely on an English text. Do you think you could consider translating the page at some point? Regards, Jafeluv 08:07, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll make a test version first and I can ask a few people from the Dutch Wikipedia (and/or Wikibooks) if they want to check for any mistakes :-) Kthoelen 08:11, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- The test version is to be found here. I'll ask some members on IRC to check for mistakes and then it can already be put here. Kthoelen 09:11, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- That was fast! Thanks. Jafeluv 09:20, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- The page is put in place, so you can use it wherever you want :-). Terveisin! Kthoelen 10:22, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Local account creation
editI've thought that the old script based solution was crappy, therefor I've developed a new account creation tool which can be found here. You just need to be logged in, visit that page, click "Start" and wait ;) - Hoo man (talk) 16:37, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
- Awesome, I'll try it out this evening! Thanks! - Greetings, Kthoelen 17:56, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Board elections candidacies
editIn the future, please don't remove invalid candidates from the Board elections page - members of the Elections Committee look at it regularly to find invalid candidates. This helps us keep track of which candidates are not eligible, make sure they have been properly notified, etc. And actually, being logged in doesn't mean their candidacy has to be removed - some valid users might not have an account on Meta, and we don't require that they log in to submit their candidacy. (That said, the person that you removed appears to have no edits, so they would have been invalid anyway... no harm done). Ral315 (talk) 20:36, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Woops, sorry ; I recently saw someone else do it but apparently that was a member of the comittee... My apologies! Friendly greetings, Kthoelen 04:11, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Translation of statement
editDear Ral315,
A little question about the upcoming Board elections: you added the statement of mvart4u on the election pages. However, this statement is full of abbreviations, spelling mistakes, non-capitalisations and so on. So, my question is: did the user send his application exactly like that? Because if so, I'll translate it (into Dutch) the same way as it is written on the English page... And if not, I hope it could be changed into the proper application :-)
Eager to hear your answer soon,
Greetings, Kthoelen 16:23, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- The statement was posted exactly as I received it via e-mail. The abbreviations were, I believe, added to remain at the 1,200 character limit, but can be changed in translations to help readability. Spelling mistakes should be corrected. Capitalizations I don't have a preference on; they were probably placed deliberately, but in translating I would encourage you to make the statement readable. Ral315 (talk) 16:41, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the quick response, I'll see what I can do - Kthoelen 16:43, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Babelsjablonen
editBeste Kthoelen,
Wil je je licht hier eens over laten schijnen alsjeblieft. Het is tamelijk belangrijk en ik weet bijna zeker dat jij (een van) de aangewezen perso(o)n(en) bent die er iets meer over kan vertellen en/of mee kan doen. Vraag gerust hulp aan de oudere garde. Alvast hartelijk dank, S.I. 'Patio' Oliantigna 10:10, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
Hartlijke groet --Ziko 11:16, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help with board election translations
editHi! As member of this year's board election committe I would like to give you this barnstar for your help with the translations of the board election pages into Dutch. It was very much appreciated! Jon Harald Søby 13:36, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Hoi, hoi!
--Siebrand (talk) 08:27, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Fundraising translation feedback
editHey Kthoelen,
I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.
To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Dutch using This Link
Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.
Many Thanks
English/Dutch translations
editDear Kthoelen, I am contacting you to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Robell and I have recently joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a part of the fundraising team. My work will be focused to a large extent around translations. I am very interested in finding engaged Wikipedians, such as yourself, who would be interested in contributing with their time to translate shorter messages from English to Dutch. We have for example recently put up a 'Thank you letter' from the Wikimedia Foundation's ED Sue Gardner for translation, using the translation extension. You can find the letter here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Fundraising%2FTranslation%2FThank+you+email+20131202&action=proofread&filter=translated&language=nl I would be most grateful to get your help to translate/proofread this letter in order to develop a quality translation in Dutch.
Furthermore, in addition to using the translation extension, my aim is to develop a few personal contacts to whom I can reach out with potential questions regarding a particular word choice etc. As an engaged Wikipedia translator, I would be very interested in hearing your view on this.
Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards, Jessica Robell Global Fundraising Coordinator Wikimedia Foundation Jrobell (talk) 09:19, 31 December 2013 (UTC)jrobell
- Hi Jessica; as you may have seen, I haven't spent a lot of time on any wiki lately, due to a lack of time IRL. Therefore, I think it would be unwise to rely on me for translating fixed texts and such (since I sometimes won't be able to contribute for multiple weeks, or even months in a row). You may, however, always contact me (preferably by e-mail) if something needs to be translated last-minute or (regarding your second proposal) if you need some advice on certain aspects of the translation(s).
