Wikipedia

Hello Simon. You reverted my link target corrections on Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/Decisions, stating: "We are talking about the official policy, please don't revert decided links". You might want to check where WP:COLLAB actually goes: originally to User:Fyslee/First law, a user's private sandbox, and starting today to Wikipedia:Collaboration first, a behavioural essay. Neither has ever been policy.

I don't really mind either way; Wikipedia:Collaboration first is a pretty appropriate link target for the motto anyway. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:38:17, 06 February 2009 (UTC)

sorry, I didn't know. I saw that it went to an essay, so I thought it differed from WP:Collabrate. Sorry for any inconvience. It's just that it has been decided with those links, so it is best not to change anything. Thanks for the notice, though. SimonKSK 15:53, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
That's fine. I also changed the link on Wikipedia:Motto of the day/March 1, 2009, if you'd like to revert that too. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:22:08, 06 February 2009 (UTC)

RE: Mike Goodwin's page

Pathoschild - I saw your message. You and I both agree that Mike Goodwin has information about himself on his webpage. However, he has it as a resume which is not allowed. (WP:NOTWEBHOST, section #1). I take it you don't see his information as a resume, correct ? Kosh Naluboutes, Nalubotes Aeria gloris, Aeria gloris 13:31, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Bug in {{convert}} shows up in documentation pages.

It has been several years since we talked at wikisource. More examples of side effects can be found at User:Droll/test1. These seem to be different than the case you already looked at which involved conversion from km2 to acres. This one is related in some way to evaluation by #if:. I know you keep busy but I hope you can shake some trees and get some movement on this. Thanks. --droll [chat] 09:19, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Problem with {{coord}} and two of the skins

Two of the skins corrupt infoboxes when there is an attempt to put coordinates in the title line. See and example at Template:Coord/testcases. Just select "Simple" or "MySkin" from the menu in the box at the top of the page. You should note that the coordinates display twice in the infobox and not at all below the title line as they do in the other skins. User:TheDJ say. "See MediaWiki:Simple.css and MediaWiki:Myskin.css. These lack the definition for #coordinates{} which the other skins (see for instance MediaWiki:Monobook.css) do have." The css files for the two skins don't seem to contain mush of anything. I'm no expert and perhaps these skins can't utilize the definition. Anyway I thought you might be the one who would understand all this. Thanks. --droll [chat] 05:50, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

WP:OP

Greetings, I'm just trying to get a current feel for who is still active in the project and if anybody would object to cleaning out inactive users of the verified user list. Thank you for your time. Q T C 03:49, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello Q. I'm no longer active in that project, and I have no objection. —{admin} Pathoschild 23:22:16, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

New IRC channel

I've created a new cvn irc channel, and was directed to inform you about it so we can integrate it into the current ones .. if you want. The name is #cvn-wp-en-newuserpost (irc.freenode) and right now I setup a script in my mIRC client to parse the rc output (irc.wikimedia) and post all edits made by accounts less than about 24 hours old. At this point I'm not sure what to do with it now. I'm open to questions or comments. –Meiskam (talkcontribblock) 11:36, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Template special effects

Hello! Regarding User:Pathoschild/Help/Template special effects. First, thank you for the informative and useful page.  :) But, question: Does the "Substituted (corrupt output, but no code left behind)" method still work? I tried what I *think* is the right thing, at User:DragonHawk/Sandbox. When not substituted, it spews wiki-barf, just like your docs say it will. But when I do substitute it, I still get some output: "Not subst'ed". Is that expected, or did something change, or did I do something wrong? —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 02:43, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello Ben. I suspect this was changed by the new preparser in January 2008. The method works fine when the ParserFunction is substituted directly, but fails when the ParserFunction is in a substituted template; presumably the preparser parses "{{{emptyvar|}}}" into nothing before the {{#if:}} statement is evaluated.
The method should work if you place the error message in the true ("Subst'd") field, and the desired output in the false ("Not subst'd") field. Since the preparser will blank "{{{emptyvar|}}}" when it's in a template, it will always evaluate to false when the code is parsed. (You could also replace "{{{emptyvar|}}}" with anything that evaluates to false.) —{admin} Pathoschild 12:53:27, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Protected, blocked

As per the request at WP:RFPP, I semi'ed your use page for 36 hours. Please let me know if you would like the duration adjusted to something different. While I was it, I went ahead and blocked all the IPs as {{blocked proxy}}. Regards, — Kralizec! (talk) 12:15, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. —{admin} Pathoschild 20:57:10, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
I just semi'ed your page again and also blocked the proxies used by the anon vandalizing your talk page, it seems the anon vandal returned after the previous protection expired. --WinHunter (talk) 02:13, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
