Milestone translation

edit
  • I´ve made a little adjustment on the milestone translation, could you update? Below is what you asked me:
$lang['gen_error'] = 'Error';
$lang['gen_db-connect-error'] = 'Nâo foi possível estabelecer a conexão com o servidor (Zedler pode estar fora do ar); O erro foi: ';
$lang['gen_db-select-error'] = 'Nâo foi possível selecionar a base de dados (O banco de dados selecionado pode não existir); O erro foi: ';
$lang['gen_welcome'] = 'Bem-vindo(a)';
$lang['gen_invalid_dbname'] = 'Nome de base de dados inválido';

Feel free to ask something more. -- danilo_br msg -- 14:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fr translation for Whatredirectshere

edit

Hello,

I have added the French translation for the Whatredirectshere tool.

Cheers, le Korrigan bla 09:18, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have seen the translation, but accents are missing... the French tend to like accents :-)
For the rest :
$lang['gen_error'] = 'Errerr';
$lang['gen_db-connect-error'] = 'Impossible de se connecter à Zedler, le serveur de base de données (en panne ?) ; l'erreur était : ';
$lang['gen_db-select-error'] = 'Impossible de se connecter à la base de données (la base de données que vous avez sélectionnée n'existe peut-être pas) ; l'erreur était : ';
$lang['gen_welcome'] = 'Bienvenue';
$lang['gen_invalid_dbname'] = 'Nom de base de données non valide';

$lang['gen_nonexistent_wiki'] = 'Le projet que vous avez sélectionné et soit inexistant, soit n'est pas répliqué sur le toolserver.';
$lang['gen_query_failed'] = 'La requête SQL a échoué avec l'erreur suivante : ';
$lang['gen_query_failed_badrowcount'] = 'La requête SQL n'a pas retourné un nombre correct de rangées.';
If you have any other tool to translate, feel free to ping my talk page :-)
Oh, and one last thing : I was integrating some tools from the toolserver on the French Wikipedia, via some MediaWiki: pages. I wanted to integrate WhatRedirectsHere in the Special:Whatlinkshere page, but I can't pass the "$1" argument (the page name) in th URL : it has to be url-encoded first, but putting {{urlencode|$1}} returns "$1" whatever the page name. Do you have any idea on how to solve this ? le Korrigan bla 19:48, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

will you please check this out? the italian should be correct but i'm not sure about the wiki grammar;)) it:User:Joana --82.58.223.252 01:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

same problem that french speaking people has: we do like accents))) so if/when we do write/use one, better use it too!!
$lang['gen_error'] = 'Errore';
$lang['gen_db-connect-error'] = 'Non è stato possibile connettersi al database server (Zedler potrebbe avere dei problemi); L'errore è: ';
$lang['gen_db-select-error'] = 'Non è stato possibile trovare il database (Forse quello che tu hai scelto non esiste ); L'errore è: ';
$lang['gen_welcome'] = 'Ciao!!';
$lang['gen_invalid_dbname'] = 'Patently invalid database name';

$lang['gen_nonexistent_wiki'] = 'Il progetto che hai scelto potrebbe non esistere o non è controllato da questo strumento.';
$lang['gen_query_failed'] = 'La SQL query ha generato l'errore seguente: ';
$lang['gen_query_failed_badrowcount'] = 'La SQL query non ha consegnato il corretto numero di righe.';

Inability to upload pages in ceb-wp

edit

Hi,

I noticed sometime back your creation of a user page at ceb-wp, where you introduced yourself as a member of the SWMT. I am trying to upload via a bot thousands of articles which I have translated offline (I do not have an online connection at home). I've been doing this last December, and stopped when I went to vacation. When I came back I noticed your user page at ceb-wp, and I can't upload the articles anymore. pywikipedia throws edit conflict warnings. I don't know why this is happening, but if you do, please enlighten me. Thanks! --Bentong Isles 10:28, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

RE: Your bot cloaks

edit

I've got no problem with changing them all over to the SWMT version - please give me the bots and the cloaks requested as I'm not sure of the nicks etc. For wikimedia/bot/nick, there is an issue with accountability - those cloaks represent official project bots slightly more and there is no-one to go to except the group contacts if they start going wrong. Do you think you could assign it to someone else? Thanks. —Xyrael / 18:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done. The bot is important enough and I trust you :) —Xyrael / 20:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

hallo tangotango, thanks for the massage and the honorable place for my simple thing. I'll try to learn the elegant mozilla-auto-plugin technology to prove my credits..

  • do You have an icon, maybe somthing with an ""+"?" symbol, if you like?
  • in fact, I've got a problem translating, because I didn't find the text "This tool is also available .." in 'wrh_intro' in ../en, thus I do not know where to translate.
  • besides, why is german version under ../deu but not ../de, which would be correct language-code?
  • and, as I read above, there is an problem with french accents. its the same with german: we have got text (3rd line)
    • "wenn Ungewohnliches auffallt oder Hilfe benotigt ", although translation gives
    • "wenn Ungewöhnliches auffällt oder Hilfe benötigt" (german en:Umlaut (diacritic)|Umlaut)
    maybe we should code in unicode or html-code with ö, ä

.. some questions ;-) gruß ("greetings" with en:ß) --W!B: 19:01, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thanks for your message :)

  • I don't, but I'll try and fish around for a suitable icon.
  • I've now added the relevant line to User:Tangotango/Whatredirectshere/en, sorry about that :P
  • The code difference is simply because Purodha (the original creator of the German translation) created the page under /deu, not /de. Since you've pointed it out, I've now moved the page to /de. But there really isn't any difference or meaning to it :)
  • I'm sorry about the accents :( My text editor has a problem handling Unicode (or non-ASCII) characters, so I often accidentally save files as ASCII, losing the accents in the process. (The same thing also happened when I updated the Portuguese language file) So it's entirely my fault :P

Cheers, and thanks, Tangotango 01:54, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

ok, did translation, html works fine now with nonASCII, maybe we should add that hint to doku-page. also, would you please put a line like

For more Information on Mozilla/Firefox search plugins and OpenSearch format see Creating OpenSearch plugins for Firefox or Searchplugins, de.FirefoxWiki (german).

to the plugin-discription page. I didn't find an english version of FirefoxWiki.. - If, we'll need both an 64x64px .JPEG or .PNG and an 16x16 MS .ICO (which I have got an editor for, if You like me to convert any) - also thanks --W!B: 22:39, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS its about time to come for single-login, I searched a time for my first massege to You, till I realised last time I wrote You at en:WP  ;-)

Using image search programatically

edit

Hello

I'd like to congratulate you on the tangotango media search tool. I recently launched quotationsbook.com - for which I have an exciting idea to combine a huge corpus of author quotations content with wikimedia material, with proper attribution. Please get in touch on quotationsbook at gmail dot com. I'd like to essentially be able to query for searches programatically, and expose this on QB with crossover links to wikimedia.

Hello, Tangotango, here is the translation of the remaining strings.
$lang['gen_error'] = '錯誤';
$lang['gen_db-connect-error'] = '未能連上數據庫伺服器(Zedler可能暫停服務),這個錯誤是︰';
$lang['gen_db-select-error'] = '不能選擇數據庫(你選擇的數據庫可能不存在),這個錯誤是︰';
$lang['gen_welcome'] = '歡迎';
$lang['gen_invalid_dbname'] = '明顯地這是無效的數據庫名稱。';
$lang['gen_nonexistent_wiki'] = '你選擇的計劃可能不存在,或該計劃沒有被複製到工具伺服器。';
$lang['gen_query_failed'] = '這個SQL查詢失敗,因為以下的錯誤︰';
$lang['gen_query_failed_badrowcount'] = '這個SQL查詢未能傳回正確的列數。';
I've read your message from zh-wikipedia, it's fine to communicate with me in English. I can understand it. Thanks for your tools, cheers!--華德禹 07:07, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Creating a new tool

edit

Your milestone tool made me think if I can create my own tool on wikimedia tool server? How do we apply for an account on that server? Huji 12:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi Tangotango, it's been a while :) I hope you're going well.

I have just had an idea to improve one of Mayflower's main drawbacks (i.e. the fact its efficiency is poor when searching words in other languages than English). What about looking for the equivalent keywords in other languages using Wikipedia interwikis? It would not be perfect but I think it would largely help people searching images with keywords in their own language. Of course, I guess it requires much more computing time; maybe you could generate a table of translated keywords for the most used ones?

Let me know what you think. guillom 10:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spanish Translation

edit

Hi Tangotango. Your excellent Mayflower in spanish here. Bye Tony Rotondas

Hi again Tangotango. I have modified the two phrases shortening his extension:
  • Los más relevantes primero => Relevantes primero
  • Introduce una o dos palabras que describan el archivo multimedia que estás buscando: => Introduce una o dos palabras que describan lo que buscas:
The meaning continues being practically the same. Bye Tony Rotondas

Mayflower in French

edit

Hello TangoTango, I have translated Mayflower in French. A few comments, though :

  • The language selector should appear on the front page, and on other pages it could appear on the upper right corner for other pages, to make it more evident.
  • At some point, if a "too many users" error happens, you suggest to use the Special:newimages search fature, which seems to have disappeared now. Perhaps you could recommend something else.
  • Some items can't (yet ? ;-)) be translated :
    • File types (in advanced searches)
    • Tooltips for license icons
    • The page footer.

I think that's it ! Thanks a lot for developing this tool :-) le Korrigan bla 16:52, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have updated the page by shortening the two strings (and changing MF_SHOW). Hopefully it should be ok now.
Also, the blue button "Search" on the advanced search page is too short for the French word "Rechercher" (which I can't make much shorter I'm afraid !).
No worries for the rest, I'll be happy to translate it whenever it is possible, but it's not such a big deal. Cheers, le Korrigan bla 17:16, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

German localization file

Hello Tangotango, I uploaded a German translation. I also put in the line from the French file which suggests doing the query in English. I think this is ok and still relevant. MF_NOP_LEADER would be empty in German, I decided to put in "max." here. Best, Cosicosa 19:42, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dellie

edit

Hi, Tangotango. There is a bug with Dellie on the test.wikipedia. The links to non-Wikipedia projects do not work. :o( One should switch language and project type to "language:project:" per default, af:b:xxxx instead of b:af:xxxx and so on. That should work then.
