Global lock for User:SideMontero
Hi there,
I would like to know the reason behind the global lock for User:SideMontero?
He is my fellow Wikimedian from Dar es Salaam. He has done tremendous work for the past years. Any particular reasons that led to his global lock?
Please advise. User:Muddyb (Talk) 06:02, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Muddyb, not only SideMontero, thousands of accounts have been locked. Now they have started to unlock some of them. I wonder what is the reason for this? @WMFOffice, please advise. Nemoralis (talk) 15:27, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
- Created a database query. There are 12645 accounts locked by WMFOffice. Nemoralis (talk) 16:00, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

sysop flag on hewiki
Hi. I noticed that the sysop permission was added to the account for the purpose of handling deletions related to the legal case. Is there still a need for this flag?
If not, I’d appreciate it if you could remove the permission from the account. We use {{NUMBERINGROUP:sysop}}
in several places, and having an additional account listed as an admin affects the count.

- A small addition: When the content was deleted, I noticed that previous revisions were not suppressed (which would require the sysop flag...). Was that intentional? Neriah - 💬 - 10:58, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I have removed the flag. This account has global rights therefore it might not need the local flag at all but there might be other reasons. As for the second question, I do not have the answer but I will let the folks know. Thank you. – NahidSultan (WMF) (talk) 11:55, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
