re: Mailing to no-voters

Hello Seha. I just archived my talk page; quoted below is my answer to your recent question. —Pathoschild 01:43:21, 05 February 2009 (UTC)

Is there any rule against private mails to no-voters by steward candidates? --Seha 17:47, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello Seha. Unless there are specific reasons for privacy, you should contact users on their user_talk pages.
Contacting a particular voter to discuss their comment is fine. However, systematically contacting users based on their positions is called canvassing, considered disruptive, and strongly discouraged. While there is no specific policy on Meta, users caught canvassing despite requests to stop have previously been blocked indefinitely. Some wikis have specific policies against canvassing, such as the English Wikipedia. —Pathoschild 00:26:49, 05 February 2009 (UTC)

neum.co.ba

Thanks for your comment at User:COIBot/XWiki/neum.co.ba. The link is not blacklisted, and was removed simply because it was added by the same ip at several projects crosswiki. When sysops/established users reinsert a link removed because of a Coibotreport that is not something we would re-revert. Regards, Finn Rindahl 19:49, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Seha, sorry, I can't grant you permanent sysop status with just two supporting votes. We would grant you permanent sysopship if three active users would support Your candidacy. Leinad 17:09, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm, IMHO it's not a huge problem. Now You have temporary access and before the status expires you can ask to prolong access or hold a new voting if the community grows. Leinad 17:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hello Seha, IMHO the temporary status is OK for now, if the project grows and if more people put their vote there (just leave the voting open) it can be easily be made permanent, if that does not happen, it is no problem either, You just leave us a note on srp shortly before the status expires, and it will be handled without bureaucracy, it is just a quality control, when the local community is missing, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 21:26, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hallo WizardOfOz!

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

WizardOfOz, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

"Off-topic"

Don't belittle hr.wiki [12].
Second, you were the one that started with off-topic.
I've focused on candidate's work (and that's the topic), while you engaged in attacking me "Your should first create an global account and then try to do what he has done globaly... oh sorry i forgot de.wiki and your CW edits".
Third, you have no right to remove my comments that directly point to the problem [13]. Your comment was "Removed Kubura comment, this is not a voting! You should read rules above! Please without offtopic comments and essays". Someone supports and gives his/hers opinions, someone opposes and has a right to give his/hers opinion. So do I have the right to oppose. You cannot take it from me. Respect that. Respect the other users' opinions, even if you don't like them. And you even dare to call that "such kind of spam with offtopic comments". We cannot allow aclamatory mood while giving tools.
When you attack someone [14], than give him the right to defend himself or remove your attacking message.
But as I see, you've removed my defense [15], while your attack remained there.Kubura 00:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think that your appeal is unjust toward me, cause my arguments are not exclusively political, while on the other hand, among 15 supporters are 12 Croats, 2 Bosniaks and not single Montenegrin. CroForce's behavior was long tolerated (6-hours blocks weren't appropriate punishment for his actions). There is a open call on Croatian Wikipedia which invites its users to support requests, while just two Serbs took part in this so far. It is just my good will and manners that prevents me to leave notice on Serbian village pump, but it is not necessary, 'cause this request is doomed due to his political background and lack of arguments and it will bring harm to subsequent request(s). Restoration of the inflammatory part at the Montenegrin Wikipedia request page

Dear WizardOfOz,

I am addressing you since you are the respected administrator that removed "CRNOGORSKI PATRIOT"'s nationalist comments from the 3rd and still ongoing Montenegrin Wikipedia request's opening text. However, I hereby plea you to return it. Careful inspection of Wikimedia's rules and guidelines has not yielded any result to me which would grant the technical justification for such an act, meaning that anyone, including myself, could just as well go ahead and restore it. On the other hand, we do have a strong moral reasoning to restore that part of the text (albeit, quoted by me, and even referenced to your actions, but far to the bottom of the whole page).

One if he or she would appear at that page could indeed quite logically assume that CroForge is a sockpuppet who had created an attack page aimed at specifically dooming a 3rd request for a Montenegrin Wikipedia and discrediting the whole idea of the Montenegrin language itself. The whole motion is in its basis disgraceful, and mildly said at least a bit shameful for all those (I'll be completely open and direct over here, with no bad intention, sadly, including yourself) who have given voice in support. The true motives of User:CroForge should be evident to anyone who came to cast their respective votes, especially considering that apparently many of the votes have been cast without any reading and on automatism, or even more so especially after Kubura and you have invited Croatian and Bosnian Wikipedians to come and cast their votes. Deleting the two controversial sections is inevitably another strike against the Montenegrin language, because it would thus influence the potential voters (as it undeniably already has). The last thing I want is such blackness as this one taming the Montenegrin language and all of us as its native speakers. I am sure that you too do not stand for that. This request should've been immediately rejected, or better said taking into account all the events around its creation, outright deleted when it was made (thus also saving the Montenegrin language from its Wikipedia requests going 3, 4, 5,... inevitably also putting a bad word for it on Meta).

Not pointing any direction against you yourself (and commending you for your intervening measures taken against the trollish actions of the project's founder), this way (out of whatever reason may be), it could be very well perceived as deception and fraud. I humbly but strongly ask of you to return the controversial wording, making everything self-evident to future and current participants. Sincerely yours, --RichardArnolde 10:52, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I can´t see any need to have such attacks on the proposal site. I also asked others to comment with more civility. You can finde it on the talk page of Ivan here, or Bojan and Micki on sr.wiki. As you can see, they also remove their hard words and asked for discussion by arguments. The only one who didn´t answer is Modzzak. I hope he is gonna change his text, otherwise he is gonna be blocked by personal attacks (calling user lier). I also asked Bojan to invite Serbian wikipedians to discussion. IMO there is a need to discuss and to see what all sides think. I also think that we can make this discussion more intensiv in the right way, without words like Cetnik, Ustasa or lier. Kind regards --WizardOfOz talk 11:33, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Respected WizardOfOz, I am aware that we should tone down the discussion to a highly balanced level (which you can observe from my personal edits), but the text opening is not a part of the discussion. It is the introductory opening and defines the purpose of this project, which has already done irreparable damage to the Montenegrin language, and I consider quite shameful that we even maintain a (level-headed or not) discussion on it, which you stand for (and which I would, under normal conditions, naturally support). People should see the opening text in its wholeness, lest they be fooled. I must therefore insist on the return of the aforementioned paragraphs.

P.S. Did you analyze the 1850 Vienna Agreement?

Respectfully yours, --RichardArnolde 12:17, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

No it will not be added, becouse it is just a attack on a nationality of some users and not a part of this proposal. And please don´t remove the people who add themself. They have the same right if they want to contribute in the possible new wiki. --WizardOfOz talk 19:46, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
PS: I didn´t mean the Agreement, but documents before and nearly after agreement. But thx anyway --WizardOfOz talk 19:46, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Even despite the problematic nature of the whole event, including a fraudulent possibility?
I haven't removed Montenegrin-language speakers that added themselves. I have removed Sideshow Bob, who wasn't added by himself as I've already mentioned in my lengthy post to the below, while Braco has presented himself as a (non-speaker) original proposal of the project, which he is not.
What documents in precise? Perhaps I can offer assistance? --RichardArnolde 20:01, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Odgovor

"Not English"

If the user had made any indication that he realized this, then I might reassess the issue. However, if you read his meta request, you'll see that he hasn't. Please do not give your personal opinon that Sven's apologies are "pænitent and unambiguous", because they are neither, as many of us have seen. My point is that you have offered nothing in this matter that we haven't already been through before. You asked if we were disinclined to consider his apology, and you have an answer with solid reasoning to support it. --EncycloPetey 02:13, 20 May 2010 (UTC) [30],abuv>deyNOpology4impropenes[but:it's about behaviour. Veluws/Limburgish have already 'escaped', on the other hand Brabantian has even no own ISO code, so i propose the following:
   - Whether we keep them, those resp. language-entities, all together with due labeling by categorisation (including Standard Dutch/Hollands whatever the name chosen, as per my first point!), reducing duplication [unless we use a bot: I'm not going to do any redundant typing with my RSI :( ]
   - Or we split everything (Standard Flemish/Dutch + additionally all the dialects), so then labeling them in that process with respective Language headers
   - Or we do both, per bot-synchronization upkept (perhaps the most user friendly option)
