Co Media Lab and Design Beku invite you to populate Wikipedia with photos of women. Join the #VisibleWikiWomen Bangalore Editathon on 30th March 2019!

Why?

edit

In March 8th 2019, the second edition of #VisibleWikiWomen campaign was launched, aiming to add openly licensed photographs and illustrations of women that are missing of Wikipedia. We estimate that less than 20% of Wikipedia articles of important women have pictures. When women’s faces are missing from Wikipedia, that invisibility spreads. Half a billion people read Wikipedia every month, and it is the 5th most visited website in the world, so gaps in Wikipedia have a big impact on the broader internet. Women’s knowledge and contributions to the world are invisible in so many ways. Together, we can address this and make women more visible online!

Co Media Lab and Design Beku are very happy to contribute to Whose Knowledge's #VisibleWikiWomen campaign.
