Activity 1: Add references
All information on Wikipedia should have references, you can help Wikipedia be more accurate by adding references to existing articles.
Referensi in a nutshell: Ideal sources for biomedical material include literature reviews or systematic reviews in reliable, third-party, published secondary sources (such as reputable medical journals), recognized standard textbooks by experts in a field, or medical guidelines and position statements from national or international expert bodies. |
- Go to CitationHunt.
- Type in the name of a subject area you want to work on, the tool will provide a sentence in an article where a reference is missing.
- Click 'I got this' to add a reference or 'Next' to see another option
- Find a suitable reference online or in a book and click 'edit' on the article.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article (if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor).
- Add the reference to the end of the sentence that says 'citation needed'.
- Remove the 'citation needed' note.
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary.
Note: if you find that the sentence that has the "citation needed" has incorrect or out of date information please change it as well as adding the reference.
Activity 2: Add new information to articles
Step 1: Find an article to improve: You can check a video example on editing medical articles.
You can explore the existing categories about acoustics: Stub-Class acoustics articles, Start-Class acoustics articles or C-Class acoustics articles.
Step 2: Add the information:
- Find a suitable reference online or in a book and click on the article 'edit'.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article, if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor.
- Write a the information you want to add to Wikipedia in your own words (don't just copy someone else's work).
- Add the reference to the end of the sentence.
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary.
Activity 3: Add links to other articles
All pages on Wikipedia should be linked together:
- Find a page you want to add links to (see activity 2, step 1).
- Find words in the page that could link to other articles.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article, if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor.
- Add links to the other articles, you don't have to link every mention of a word, only the first one.
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary.
Activity 4: Add images
You can add images to articles to help people understand the subject better
- Find an article you want to add an image to.
- Click 'Edit' at the top of the article (if you see code click to switch to the Visual Editor).
- Add an image
- Click 'Publish changes' and say what you did in the summary.
