WikiBoost 2024/Programs
WikiBoost is a project that aims to enhance and boost the knowledge of Wikimedia projects among the Nigerian community. The project's objective is to improve the Wikimedia knowledge of both experienced editors and newbies. With a focus on community engagement and collaboration, WikiBoost strives to make a real difference in the Wikimedia Nigeria community and beyond.
Readers to Writers
editThe project aims to convert Wikipedia readers into active editors and community members by placing an ad on the central banner notice to encourage them to join as editors. The project will start with hybrid training sessions, both physical (Lagos) and online, to ensure that the new editors are well-equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to Wikipedia. Upon completion of the training, the editors will receive a certificate of completion and will be recruited to the community. The project hopes to increase the number of active Wikipedia editors in Nigeria and enhance the quality of content on the platform while creating a sense of belonging among community members.

Wiki discussion understanding
editThe project aims to enhance the knowledge of existing Wikipedia editors from Nigeria who have at least 2,000 edits on English Wikipedia and have been members for at least a year. The editors will be trained virtually on navigating discussions on English Wikipedia and utilizing various user rights to make edits more conducive and impactful. After four weeks of virtual training, those who complete all the tasks, including the project, will receive certificates. The ultimate goal is to build a strong community of knowledgeable editors in Nigeria who can contribute effectively to the knowledge platform and enhance the quality of content on Wikipedia.
