Abstract:

OCLC and 16 of its member libraries recently concluded a pilot study on the creation and management of linked data descriptions for bibliographic works and their related entities (people, organizations, places, events, and concepts) using a Wikibase instance prepopulated with a subset of Wikidata items that are also described in VIAF and WorldCat, and their associated properties. In this presentation we will briefly describe the scope of the pilot study and highlight the connections we see between its findings and the four scenarios for the future of WikiCite roadmap, with a special emphasis on discussions about the use of existing properties, and new properties added.
