Santali Wikipedia is a newly approved wikipedia version in Santali language, an indigenous language spoken by around 10 million people and the interesting thing is that the contributors of this wikipedia project are from three different countries respectively India, Bangladesh and Nepal. So I really happy to share our history of Journey, challenges we have faced now and some possibilities for other indigenous languages which could be the upcoming Wikipedia language version in South Asia.
Most of the Indic languages are less privileged than other languages, so in my understand one of the major focus of WCI 2023 is strengthening the languages and contributors of the South Asia region. So sharing the example of Santali Wikipedia will be able to promote and support our activities as well as create the collaboration between the wikimedians of the Asia region.
At the end of the session, participants would learn about the journey of Santali Wikipedia, challenges faced by this community members and possibilities for the indigenous languages
