WikiCredCon 2025/Venue

Welcome to San Francisco! WikiCredCon 2025 will be hosted by the Internet Archive at its San Francisco HQ in the city's Richmond district.

"The Richmond" stretches across northwest San Francisco between Golden Gate Park to the south, and and the Presidio and Lincoln Park to the north. The western end of the Richmond is bordered by the Pacific Ocean, and is about 20 minutes by express transit bus from the Internet Archive.

The Internet Archive is just around the corner from San Francisco's "other Chinatown", on Clement Street (generally spread out between from Arguello Street and 25th).

Getting Around San Francisco

BART light rail services travels from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Union Square in downtown San Francisco. It takes about thirty minutes and costs $11.55. Use the BART Fare Calculator to determine the exact fare, and also purchase a Clipper Card before proceeding to the turnstile and the platform. A Clipper Card can be used on most public transportation throughout the Bay Area, including BART and Muni buses and light rail.

It generally costs around $30 to take rideshare or taxi from SFO to Union Square in central San Francisco. Taxi service at SFO is actually more convenient than rideshare -- the taxi stand is located directly outside of the arrivals area at each of SFO's terminals.

Getting to the Internet Archive

If traveling from SFO to downtown San Francisco, take the Red Line bound for Richmond (note: this is a city, and is not the same as the Richmond District) or the Yellow Line bound for Antioch.

The 38R Geary Rapid bus service travels from Union Square in downtown San Francisco to its terminus at the end of Geary Blvd. Get off at the Park Presidio stop (map link here). The Internet Archive HQ (map) is a short walk to the northeast at the corner of Funston and Clement.

Convenience Stores, Coffee Shops, and Shared Spaces

High Treason (map link) is a popular wine bar on Clement Street.
Cafe La Flore (map link) is a nearby coffee shop.
Lost Marbles (map link) offers craft beer and pub food.
Walgreens is the closest pharmacy to the venue, and is located at Geary and 17th.

Sightseeing Ideas

A short walk from the 38R bus terminus at the end of Geary Blvd is the Seal Rock Inn, where Hunter S. Thompson wrote Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 1972.

The bus stop is also close to the Sutro Baths and the Pacific Ocean. The Legion of Honor, a private art museum and a key setting in Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 film Vertigo is a twenty-minute walk as well, and has views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Historic City Lights Bookstore is located on Columbus Avenue in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, on just northeast of Chinatown. The Beat Museum is located across the street.

The Yoda Fountain is located in the southeast corner of the Presidio.
