WikiGap/2020
W I K I G A P
Welcome to WikiGap! Wikimedia Sverige and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are planning to organize several Wikipedia edit-a-thons during 2020 around the world in partnership between Swedish embassies and local Wikimedia affiliates and volunteers. This is the third year WikiGap is being organized. For the events in 2018, see here. For the events in 2019, see here. #WikiGap invites broad and diverse participation, and allows for local adaptations to the overall theme of closing the gender gap and other gaps relevant for diversity on Wikipedia. |
Wikimedia affiliates are welcome to join WikiGap and partner with the Swedish Embassy in their country and support edit-a-thons focused on closing the Wikipedia gender gap in multiple languages. Get in touch with Eric at Wikimedia Sverige. Please also see our FAQ about WikiGap, and documentation from events. |
A number of Wikimedia groups in cities around the world have scheduled WikiGap events. For a list of the global events which are part of the WikiGap campaign, please see the event list and share details of your event if you're a WikiGap event organizer, so we can connect with you. |
To show our impact, the WikiGap campaign is available on the Programs & Events Dashboard to facilitate running and keeping track of all the events on various languages. To join the campaign, create a program for your local event, which will add all your activities to the WikiGap. Set your program page on the homewiki and add a description in your language. Participants can enroll by clicking on the shared enroll link. |
To help you find inspiration, we prepared a guide to identifying important articles missing from Wikipedia in your language. You can also find a few thematic and curated lists of articles here! Exclusively for WikiGap, the WikiGapFinder has been developed! The WikiGapFinder helps you discover articles about women that exist in one language but are missing in another. You find the tool here. |
