Event Name
editMy Input
edit- Before the conference, I have participated within the Scholarship committee where we have held a number of online meetings and agreed on the chosen participants for this event.
- During the conference, I held a presentation about the Refugee projects related to Wikimedia. The presentation material is attached to this report.
- I have participated in different discussions and gave my opinion/listened to colleagues opinions about different subjects and areas. I have also followed all the presentations and tried to learn from them.
Participant Connections
editBecause I have participated in Wikiindaba 2017, I did know the majority of participants and met them before. I made however a number of new connections that were very interesting and useful.
- Fayçal Rezkallah. From Algeria, Faycal is a talented photographer who was newly introduced to the movement by User:Bachounda. I have discussed with Faycal about different subjects, mainly how to use his talent in projects related to the movement.
- Pamputt. With his "Lingua Libre" project, I have recorded with my colleague Reda Benkhadra some audio recordings for basic words in both Tamazight (Berber) and Moroccan Arabic.
- Rossouw van Rooyen. Meeting Rossouw was very interesting. I have discussed with him specifically about the Wikitongues project and any support that can be done in Namibia. He has already recorded a video for Namibian Sign Language, which is great.
- Douglas Scott. Wikiindaba 2018 was the first occasion where I have met Douglas, and had very interesting discussions about a number of subjects.
Outcome
edit- Recorded a number of videos for the Wikitongues project.
- Recorded an interview with Katherine Maher regarding governance of Wikimedia. I have made the video public and available to all on Youtube
- Collaborated with Reda Kerbouche and pushed for the application for the Wikimedians of Tamazight User Group.
- Participated along with Reda Benkhadra in strengthening the Moroccan Arabic and Berber presence on the encyclopedia. Our future projects will clearly point towards the wiktionnary in order to strengthen these languages and develop them even more.
