In this session, I will address how photography is carried out in Wikimedia Movement, starting from Wikimedia Commons to various aspects of photographic activities. I will begin by introducing Wikimedia Commons as well as the basic concepts of the Upload Wizard and the licenses to be used to allow the reuse of shared files. I will then discuss the process of uploading files, particularly images, audios and videos to Wikimedia Commons, including the conversion of the types of the files into ones supported by the open database using a variety of tools and applications. Finally, I will go through several related topics such as the upload of Public Domain and Fair Use images using cross-wiki upload and other methods further than the importance of using mobile devices for a flexible photography of local areas to enrich Wikimedia Commons. |
