Bird Photo Walk Series: Walk 1 at Muyyam
As part of the 'Wiki Loves Birds India' campaign, the SSFOSS Club, in association with the Department of Forestry and Forestry Association, is jointly organizing a Bird Photo Walk series. This campaign seeks to raise awareness about bird conservation and inspire a deeper appreciation of India's avian biodiversity.
The first walk of the series was held on Sunday, 1 December 2024, at Muyyam, Taliparamba, which boasts rich biodiversity. The event commenced at 7:00 am. Eight enthusiastic participants, including members of the Club and forestry students and teachers, attended the event. Birdwatching and photographing birds were facilitated with digital cameras and binoculars.
During the walk, arboreal birds and many other species were spotted in agricultural fields and near water bodies. The four-hour birding session yielded a total of 47 species, which were recorded as checklists on Ebird, and most species were photographed, during the approx. 3-km walk. The event concluded at 11:00 am, and participants headed home with new insights about our feathered friends.
