Wiki Education Brazil/Projects/Hackathon 2018

The creation of a local technical community and initiatives to improve the technical skills were required by the local community since the Brazil Catalyst Program. This need has surfaced again during the 2030 strategic discussions organized during the IWSC in Niteroi - Rio de Janeiro this.

Therefore, this project aims to organize the first Hackathon in Brasil with the main goal of create a strong local technical community, to support projects and develop new opportunities for new ideas, initiatives and academic researches, attending as well the community demand presented during the last years and discussions.

Goals

  • Organize the first technical Wikimedia event in Latin America
  • Create a local/regional technical community
  • Increase the number of technical contributors in Brasil
  • Support the development of new academic researches in Brasil providing technical support and tech background for researchers
  • Connect the local technical contributors to the international movement
  • Develop new tools and resources to support our GLAM partners
  • Generate new projects and results to be presented during IWSC 2018 (papers, posters, workshops)
  • Develop new partnerships in Brasil (Technical communities, universities, companies, research centers)
