Wiki Loves Butterfly in North-East India (WLB-NEI)/WLB Assam

In this project, we have documented the available butterfly species and subspecies in Assam. This is an extended part of the Wiki Loves Butterfly project namely Wiki Loves Butterfly in North-East India (WLB-NEI). In this project we are concentrating on the district wise butterfly species availability in different season in Assam.

Wiki Loves Butterfly Team Meets A Group Of Lepidopterists & Resource Persons

During latest Wiki Loves Butterfly North East India project field-work on March 30th & 31st, 2019 at Rani-Garvanga Forest, Guahati, Assam, India, the Wiki Loves Butterfly team comprising 5 members from Kolkata, Bankura, & Assam had a great opportunity of meeting & working with a group of Lepidopterists & Resource persons on butterfly assembling thereon. Those dignitaries assembled at the aforesaid famous butterfly hotspot with a special mission of studying & orienting butterfly diversity of Rani-Garvanga Forest. We had joint field study & documentation, sharing of knowledge about butterfly diversity, WLB project & Wikimedia movement. This chance meet-up has highly benefited, nourished & developed WLB project with their valuable tips, advice & guidance. Some of the dignitaries were:- Mr. Sagar Sarang (Maharastra), Mr. Atunu Bose (Assam), Mr. Jayant (Maharastra ) Mr.Raju Das (Assam) & others.

A good many rare species were documented by WLB field-workers on the 2 days– like Khasi Forest Bob, Gold–spotted Ace, Dark Catseye & so on.
