Social media
editSocial media template
editA template with a square format is available in Canva to make social media posts. The size is 1080 x 1080 pixels. Here are some examples of how it has been used.
Some design principles
edit- Use images from the growing collection of living heritage images to pay tribute to the heritage and their custodians.
- Credit the image creators! We have used the ALT text in Twitter where the post can be linked to the image on Commons and the Creative Commons license. In the absence of that, add the text on the image.
- Overlay white text on the image, but manage legibility. It is not always possible to choose a serene background. There are a few strategies how you may still use colorful images with a lot of detail.
- Add text outside the image in a separate area
- Use color overlays on the image. An overlay can cover the whole image, or it can be a square or round gradient. Choose the color from the the darker shades of the image or use black. You can also experiment with a colorful gradient, or a pattern, for example.
- To make the subtitle stand out from the background, use a black, opaque, rounded background.
- We try to respect the font size ratio (2:1) between the title and a subtitle. Use uppercase and normal weight in subtitles.
- Keep the size of the Wiki Loves Living Heritage logo consistent. Also, keep the distance from the image edge consistent.
- You can add the country / region / theme name at the end of the logo, see the Canva file for the logo.
