Wiki Loves Ramadan 2025/Sample

Wiki Loves Ramadan is an annual global contest aimed at documenting and sharing the diverse customs and traditions observed during the month of Ramadan. The 2025 edition will focus on 32 countries, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Egypt, Nigeria, and the United States, India, to capture the rich cultural practices, Islamic heritage, and biographies of significant Islamic figures. Contributions will span More than 26 languages across platforms like Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and Wikivoyage. Through online events and training sessions, WLR 2025 aims to engage diverse communities, fostering knowledge sharing and cultural appreciation.

The contest will likely run from February 25 to March 31, 2025, focusing on enhancing the representation of Ramadan traditions and Islamic heritage on Wikimedia platforms.

Rules

  • New created Article Size:
    • Rule: 1 point will be awarded for every 100 words (1000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words ) of net new content added to the article.
    • Minimum Requirement: A minimum of 400 words ( 5000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words ) of net new content (4 points) is required for an article to be eligible for any further points. Articles with less than 400 words ( 5000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words ) of net new content will not be judged.
  • Improved Article Size:
    • Rule: 1 point will be awarded for every 100 words (1000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words) of net new content added to the article.
    • Minimum Requirement: A minimum of 300 words ( 4000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words) of net new content (3 points) is required for an article to be eligible for any further points. Articles with less than 300 words ( 4000 bytes if there is no way to decide on the words ) of net new content will not be judged.
  • Points:
    • References: 1 point will be awarded for every unique, reliable reference included in the article.
    • Images: 1 point will be awarded for every image added to the article.
    • Wikidata Items: 1 point will be awarded for every unique Wikidata item added.
    • Infobox: 2 points will be awarded for adding a relevant and complete infobox (where applicable) to a new article. Points will be deducted from this category if the infobox is incorrect or incomplete.
