Wiki Loves Siswati
Consistently ranked amongst the top 5 websites in the world, Wikipedia is the biggest online encyclopedia used by millions of people around the world daily for academic purposes and to search for general information. Thousands of volunteers crowdsource content to create articles. However, there are still huge content gaps that exist, especially from the global south and small communities, owing to the lack of volunteer contributors from underrepresented communities, this is also true with the Eswatini content.
Siswati editathon and translaption Edit-a-thon is a campaign which seeks to activate and recruit Siswati speaking editors to increase and create in-depth notable Siswati related topics on Wikipedia content online. By editing and improving specific topics in Eswatini context and adding new relevant content. The event typically includes Wikipedia basic editing and training for new editors. It is envisaged that the event will take a form of a hybrid format where participants affiliated to Uneswa will meet both online and in- person.
