Project Plan
edit- We are planning to have at least two main hybrid events where one of them will allow the Tanzanian Wikimedians to come together in-person in Dar es Salaam and have a moment of togetherness while at the same time participating in the online Wikimania 2022 global event. The second event is planned to happen as a post Wikimania event where Tanzanian Wikimedians will again meet in-person (for thise living in Dar es Salaam) and virtually(for remote participants) to have a moment of reflection on how was Wikimania 2022 The Festive Edition. During this event we will share and collect feedback on what went well, what didn’t go well, points of improvements for future Wikimania and Key take aways from the conference in relation to mission and vision of our User Group. Also we will use this chance to share some knowledge on reporting (for the Wikimania scholarship grantees).

How will the funding requested support your community’s participation at Wikimania?
Please review following eligible activities and expenses below, and write below any that will be included in your activities.
- Childcare services (or similar family services) to support Wikimania participation
- Data packages to distribute to Wikimania participants
- Administrative or operational costs for to distribute funds to community members, such as transfer fees
- Small hardware expenses to support access (such as webcams, microphones, head/earphones)
- Note: Requests for computers, laptops, tablets, and other personal devices are not eligible.
- Translation services for a Wikimania session
- Video production support for pre-recorded Wikimania sessions (such as equipment or space)
- In-person meetups that coincide with Wikimania activities (food, beverage, meeting space)
- Printed artwork, conference swag/merchandise for event participants
- Among other things listed on the budget section below, we are planning to use the fund requested to support the participants with;
- Food and drinks
- internet data,
- local scholarships program,
- local travels,
- Local meetups / events during Wikimania,
- Childcare,
- Small hardware (webcam, microphone, mouse, head/ear phones),
- Meals and
- Administrative costs
If you are planning to distribute funds to community members, such as by running a local scholarship program, please provide additional detail on how you will organize this process.
Please provide a summary explaining the following:
- how you will invite community members to apply for funding,
- We will have a team of at least 5 experienced volunteers who will oversee the whole participation of the User Group participation to Wikimania 2022. Two of these team members will deal with communications, we will send the announcement to our social media channels and on our User Group Meta page to notify people of the opportunity for them to apply for the local scholarship for them to participate in Wikimania 2022.

- First Priority: Will be to active volunteers who are the first timers to attend Wikimania. This will be possible through the question that will be on the scholarship application form which will ask participants on whether it’s their first time to attend Wikimania.
- 2nd Priority: Will be to the newbies who want to explore and join Wikimedia Movement.We believe this could be the chance for them to be inspired by the work of other Wikimedians and get attracted to join the local and global movement of promoting pen knowledge.
- 3rd Priority: Will be to everyone including returning participants
- the processes or services you will use to distribute funds.
- Primarily, We plan to use the Mobile money method available in Tanzania (M-PESA, TIGO PESA, AIRTEL MONEY, T-PESA) etc for distributing the scholarships funds to successful applicants, however we will ask the convenient way for each applicant to receive the scholarship fund such through Bank accounts deposits.

Outcomes

It is OK if this is estimate is based on limited information, but we want to have an idea of how your activities will support community participation in Wikimania.
Some examples:
- 3-5 participants will receive childcare support to support their participation at Wikimania.
- 10 participants will receive hardware support
- 10-20 participants will receive data packages to support their participation at Wikimania
- At Least 40 people will be supported through our local scholarship program.
- 20-30 people will receive full scholarship support to participate at Wikimania and at our Local Post Wikimania event.
- 4-8 Will receive childcare support to support their participation at Wikimania.
- at least 40 people will receive Data packages to be able to attend Wikimania
- At Least 7 local travel scholarship will be given to active Wikimedians living out of Dar es Salaam Region
