Wikimedia Australia/Organisation Group
A brief overview of structures can be found on the Structures page
The Wikimedia Australia Organisation Group was originally proposed before meeting 2.
Structure group (I hesitate to say committee) - perhaps we can get a small group (3-5) of people interested in hashing out the details of WMA's structure together. They can go away and do all the research about what is the best format for us, bring back their conclusions by a certain date, everyone can offer their comments and then we can move forward. It just seems quite hard having 20 or more random people trying to find out info with no defined roles at the moment. FWIW, I am not interested in doing this at all :) --pfctdayelise 05:38, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- This sort of organisation might help to speed up the process of WMA, but we should still be open to suggestions at open meetings and make use of meta for discussion of this. A committee would be a good idea, as long as it isn't used to shut out anyone who wants to help or participate in the formation of this chapter. Angela 06:34, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, of course. pfctdayelise 23:36, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Participants
editPlease add your name if you intend to be involved. See Wikimedia Australia for a longer list of people wanting to be generally involved in the chapter but not this specific working group.
Issues/To-do
editPlease add issues to be looked into or other things the group should do in this section - Nathan Carter (Talk) 12:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
- What is the anticipated annual turnover of WMA? (this may influence the structure decision)
- What structure should WMA take? (Incorporated association and company are possibilities)
- How should WMA be governed? (committee/board positions, etc)
- Look at the constitution and bylaws of other chapters for ideas
- Come up with possible locations to incorporate ourselves (with reasons)
IRC meeting, July 2006
editHi all, Can we please figure out a time within the next 2 weeks to meet to discuss structure issues. Cheers, Nathan
- Anything on or before the 27th, with the exception of 3-5am on July 19, is fine with me. Angela 12:33, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- How is Monday, 24 July at say 7PM? - Nathan Carter (Talk) 07:53, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's fine with me. I'll email the others to make sure they know to come here and comment too. Angela 06:05, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks :) -

- Sun 23 would be better but Mon 24 is also ok. The time sounds fine. --bainer (talk) 08:37, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm on night shifts at the moment and might not be very reliable about waking up in time, so go with whatever is most convenient for everyone else and I'll do my best to be there. Sarah Ewart 09:10, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- I guess we should find a new date since bainer is the only person who remembered the meeting was meant to be today. Angela 12:58, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
How about Sunday the 30th, at something like 7:30 or 8:00pm AEST? --bainer (talk) 13:34, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm leaving for Wikimania on the 28th, so I can't guarantee I'll be available then. I'm not entirely sure what we have to say at a meeting anyway. Perhaps we should work this out on the wiki or by email first? Angela 18:15, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
