During Wikimedia Conference 2016, in Berlin, the representatives of Wikimedia Armenia and Wikimedia Spain talked about the possibility of organizing a joint activity. The initial conversation was focused on increasing Wikipedia content and finally we decided to work on castles and fortifications of both countries in this first initiative. The aim was to improve the cultural and historical knowledge between the two countries and strengthen ties of communication between the two Wikimedia communities.

In the following months, we exchanged several emails defining the format of the activity. We agreed to organize an online contest, after Summer, for one month. The community in Armenia would edit on Spanish castles and the one in Spain would do on Armenian castles. We also agreed on some gifts for the best participants, like Amazon gift cards and books ...and some surprises.

The chosen month was September because Wikimedia Armenia was full of activities till the end of the year. We both created a page with related information, rules and list of articles proposed, on Meta and the Armenian Wikipedia. Besides, one of the Armenian Wikipedia Education program participants (user:Omicroñ'R) created a logo for the challenge. Wikimedia Spain tried to promote the contest among Armenian institutions in Spain, like the Armenian Embassy or the Armenian National Council of Spain, without success.

We established three awards in each country: higher volume of contribution per user, best quality article based on formal criteria and higher volume of translation into other languages. Participation and content volume were very high if we consider such a specific topic as proposed. A total of 283 articles were edited in 7 languages, of which 276 were new. The participants were 21, 12 in Armenia and 9 in Spain. One of the Armenian participants of the contest, Anahit Baghdasaryan, revealed:

I like Spanish language and always seek new information related to Spain. So one day I was given an opportunity to get acquainted with the inimitable beauty of the Spanish castles and forts. While translating articles I learned a lot of new things admiring the castles’ exalted look. I participated in this contest with great love. I’m glad that my contribution gave an opportunity to the Armenian readers to find Armenian content about this part of Spanish culture on Wikipedia. “Castles challenge” was an interesting and admirable world for me.

Armenian winners of the contest will be announced during Wikipedia birthday ceremony at the Wikimedia Armenia office on January 15, while the Spanish winners will be announced on the page of the contest, on Meta.

Both, Wikimedia Armenia and Wikimedia Spain, are happy with the results and the experience, so we hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration between the two chapters.

Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանը և Վիքիմեդիա Իսպանիան երկու կազմակերպությունների միջև կապն ամրապնդելու նպատակով նախաձեռնեցին համագործակցություն․ առաջին քայլն առցանց «Ամրոցների մրցույթն» էր, որի նպատակը երկու երկրների ճարտարապետական ժառանգության մասին պատկերացում տալն էր։

2016 թվականին Բեռլինում կայացած Վիքիմեդիա կոնֆերանսի ժամանակ Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանի և Վիքիմեդիա Իսպանիայի ներկայացուցիչները քննարկեցին համատեղ համագործակցության հնարավորությունները։ Նախնական քննարկումն ուղղված էր Վիքիպեդիայում բովանդակության ավելացմանը, և ի վերջո որոշվեց գրել հոդվածներ երկու երկրների ամրոցների և բերդերի մասին։ Այս համագործակցության նպատակն էր բարելավել երկու երկրների պատմամշակութային ժառանգությունների մասին տեղեկատվությունը և ամրացնել կապը երկու Վիքիմեդիա կազմակերպությունների միջև։

Հետագա ամիսներին ինտենսիվ նամակագրական կապի շնորհիվ որոշվեց մրցույթի ձևաչափը․ մրցույթը պետք է տևեր մեկ ամիս և տեղի ունենար աշնանը։ Հայկական համայնքը պետք է հոդվածներ ստեղծեր Իսպանիայի ամրոցների, իսկ իսպանական համայնքը՝ Հայաստանի ամրոցների մասին։ Կողմերը համաձայնեցին նաև լավագույն մասնակիցներին տալ խրախուսական մրցանակներ՝ գրքեր, Ամազոն նվեր-քարտ և... անակնկալներ։

Մրցույթի անցկացման ամիս ընտրվեց սեպտեմբերը, որովհետև Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանը մինչև տարվա վերջ այլ նախագծեր ուներ։ Էջեր ստեղծվեցին Մետա-Վիքիում և Հայերեն Վիքիպեդիայում, որտեղ ամփոփված էր մրցույթի մասին ամբողջ տեղեկատվությունը՝ կանոնները, հոդվածների առաջարկվող ցանկը։ Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանի կրթական ծրագրի մասնակիցներիցOmicroñ'R մասնակիցը մրցույթի համար տարբերանշան ստեղծեց։ Վիքիմեդիա Իսպանիան փորձեց գովազդել մրցույթը Իսպանիայի հայկական հաստատությունների շրջանում, ինչպիսիք են Իսպանիայում Հայաստանի դեսպանությունը և Հայաստանի հյուպատոսությունը, սակայն ապարդյուն։

Սահմանվեց 3 անվանակարգ՝ ամենաշատ հոդվածներ ստեղծելու համար, բարձրորակ հոդվածների համար և այլալեզու վիքիներում մեծ քանակով թարգմանությունների համար։ Մրցույթին մասնակցության մակարդակը և ստեղծված հոդվածների քանակը բարձր էին, եթե հաշվի առնվի թեմայի նեղ լինելը։ Ընդհանուր առմամբ 283 հոդված է խմբագրվել 7 լեզուներով, որոնցից 276-ը նոր է ստեղծվել։ Մրցույթին մասնակցում էր 21 խմբագիր՝ Հայաստանից՝ 12 և Իսպանիայից՝ 9։ Մրցույթի հայ մասնակիցներից մեկը՝ Անահիտ Բաղդասարյանը, այսպես նկարագրեց մրցույթին իր մասնակցությունը․

Սիրում եմ իսպաներենը, անընդհատ նյութեր էի որոնում կարդալու, որպեսզի բարելավեի իմացածս։ Եվ ահա Իսպանիային, նրա պատմաաշխարհագրական դիրքին, նրա ամրոցների գեղեցիկ, անկրկնելի աշխարհին ծանոթանալու հնարավորություն տվեց «Ամրոցների մրցույթը»։ Ես կարողացա նյութերի թարգմանության ընթացքում շատ բան իմանալ այդ երկրի, նրա ամրոցների աշխարհի, առանձին վայրերի մասին։ Կարողացա բարելավել իմ իմացածի վերաբերյալ տեղեկույթը, հիացա ամրոցների վեհացնող, բարձրացնող տեսքով։ Սիրով մասնակցեցի մրցույթին և վերցնելով շատ գիտելիքներ՝ նպաստեցի Իսպանիայի վերաբերյալ իմ ունեցածի հարստացմանը, նաև ցանկացա, որ իմ ներդրումների շնորհիվ հնարավորություն տամ այլ մարդկանց շփվել այդ երկրի նյութական մշակույթի մաս կազմող ամրոցներին, նրանց շինարարությանը, ճարտարապետական ձևերին։ Ես շատ բան սովորեցի, ինձ համար շատ հետաքրքիր, հաճելի ու հրաշք աշխարհ էր ամրոցների աշխարհը, որն ինձ գրավեց իր ամրությամբ, դարերի միջով անցնելու իր տոկունությամբ։

Մրցույթի հայաստանյան հաղթողները կհայտարարվեն Վիքիպեդիայի օրը՝ հունվարի 15-ին, Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանի գրասենյակում, մինչդեռ իսպանական կողմի հաղթողները պարզ կդառնան մրցույթի Մետա-վիքիի էջում։

Ե՛վ Վիքիմեդիա Հայաստանը, և՛ Վիքիմեդիա Իսպանիան գոհ են մրցույթի արդյունքներից, և հուսով են, որ սա երկու կազմակերպությունների երկար և արգասաբեր համագործակցության միայն սկիզբն է։

• Wikimedia Armenia y Wikimedia España estrechan lazos e inician una colaboración conjunta; el primer paso ha sido un concurso en línea sobre fortificaciones con el objetivo de visualizar el patrimonio arquitectónico de ambos países.

Durante Wikimedia Conference 2016, en Berlín, los representantes de Wikimedia Armenia y Wikimedia España hablaron acerca de la posibilidad de organizar una actividad conjunta. La discusión inicial se centró en incrementar el contenido de Wikipedia y finalmente decidimos trabajar sobre castillos y fortificaciones de ambos países en esta primera iniciativa. El objetivo era mejorar el conocimiento cultural e histórico entre los dos países y estrechar lazos de comunicación entre las dos comunidades Wikimedia.

En los meses siguientes, intercambiamos varios correos para definir el formato de la actividad. Acordamos organizar un concurso en línea, después del verano, durante un mes. La comunidad de Armenia editaría sobre castillos de España y la comunidad de España editaría sobre castillos de Armenia. También acordamos unos premios para las mejores contribuciones, como tarjetas regalo de Amazon y libros ...y algunas sorpresas.

El mes elegido fue septiembre ya que Wikimedia Armenia tenía numerosas actividades hasta final de año. Ambos creamos una página con información, reglas y una lista de artículos propuestos, en Meta y en Wikipedia en armenio. Además, uno de los participantes del programa de educación armenio (user:Omicroñ'R) creó un logo para el concurso. Wikimedia España trató de promover el concurso entre algunas instituciones armenias en España, como la Embajada de Armenia o el Consejo Nacional de Armenia en España, sin éxito.

Establecimos tres premios en cada país: volumen más alto de contribución por usuario, mejor artículo por calidad, basado en criterios formales y de contenido, y mayor volumen de traducción a otros idiomas. La participación y el volumen de contenido fueron altos si tenemos en cuenta lo específico del tema propuesto. Fueron editados un total de 283 artículos en 7 idiomas, de los cuales 276 eran nuevos. El número de participantes fue 21, 12 en Armenia y 9 en España. Uno de los participantes de Armenia, Anahit Baghdasaryan, dijo lo siguiente:

Me gusta el idioma español y siempre busco nueva información relacionada con España. Así que un día tuve la oportunidad de familiarizarme con la belleza inimitable de los castillos y fortalezas españolas. Mientras traducía artículos aprendí muchas cosas nuevas admirando la apariencia exaltada de los castillos. Participé en este concurso con mucho entusiasmo. Me alegro de que mi contribución haya dado la oportunidad a los lectores armenios de encontrar contenido sobre este aspecto de la cultura española en Wikipedia. El "Reto de los Castillos" fue para mí un mundo interesante y admirable.

Los ganadores del concurso en Armenia serán anunciados en la fiesta de cumpleaños de Wikipedia en la oficina de Wikimedia Armenia, el 15 de enero, mientras que los ganadores en España serán anunciados a través de la página del concurso en Meta.

Ambos, Wikimedia Armenia y Wikimedia España, estamos contentos con los resultados y con la experiencia, por lo que esperamos que sea el inicio de una larga y fructífera colaboración entre los dos capítulos.
