* General assembly

As you probably already know, Wikimedia CH's General Assembly is happening on Saturday the 21st March and will take place at the University of Bern, Engelhaldenstrasse 8, Seminarraum 002, in 3012 Bern.
All our board members are re-candidating for their seats. Furthermore, we are delighted to announce that Micha L. Rieser, long time and very active Wikipedian, as well as Wikipedian in Residence at the Swiss National Library and the Swiss Federal Archives, is proposing his candidacy for a seat on the board!
With regards to the agenda of the meeting, besides the election of the board, WMCH will suggest a minor bylaw change, which will facilitate the membership-process.
Following the meeting, you are cordially invited for lunch at a nearby italian restaurant, after which, you may join the guided tour provided by the Alpine Museum in Bern. By accessing the members wiki through this link https://members.wikimedia.ch/General_Assembly_2015 , you will be able to view the details of the supporting program and you will be able to indicate if you are attending the event.

On the 27th and the 28th of February took place the first Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon at the Swiss National Library in Bern. The Hackathon was all about using free cultural data and making it accessible to the public. Over 100 developers, artists, researchers, Wikimedians, archivists and librarians participated to the event and used over 34 data sets from 20 different GLAM institutions. Wikimedia CH financially sponsored the event and warmly thanks all the other partners who were involved in making this first cultural hackathon a success. Furthermore a big thank you goes to all Wikimedians that were actively involved in the organization of the event!

  • Gender diversity grants

Complex issues require collective action. Do you have an idea to increase gender diversity in Wikimedia projects? From now until the 31st March, Wikimedia’s Inspire Campaign is looking for proposals to address gender issues on projects like Wikipedia. The campaign goal is to have 100 ideas and 500 participants. Anyone can submit a proposal for the Inspire Campaign – allies are an important and welcome part of this initiative!
