Wikimedia Community User Group Guinée Conakry/Report2019

If 2017 was the year of the revelation with the bonus of obtaining the status of User group, the year 2018 was presented mainly as that of the establishment for Wikimedia Guinea Conakry an official status which is realized in November 2018 The challenge of 2019 was the establishment of a structural framework to be used for the deployment of a strong and dynamic organization at the service of promotion missions and the free dissemination of knowledge and knowledge in Guinea and in the world.

Thus, important activities with more relevant and diversified content and contours were carried out, demonstrating a strong commitment from the volunteers of the new Association, all backed by international collaboration.

The purpose of this document is therefore to give an account of this dynamic initiated since the initiative of the project 2 years ago today.

More relevant and diverse content

In 2018, 'several contributions,' were implemented under the assets of the members of the User Group of Guinea Conakry or of contributors who benefited from its supervision during the wikiAtelier.These contents related to public figures, education and the agglomerations of Guinea.

They were mainly published on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata and Meta wiki in French. In addition to French, articles in Peulh, English, Spanish, Polish, and Portuguese on Guinea have been improved in images or translated into French by the publishers of Guinea. These modifications have to concern for example the Guinean cinema and filmmakers from there or of Guinean origin during the African cinema month.

We count a hundred sympathizers, members of the User Group or having participated in events organized by the Community of Wikimedia Users Guinea Conakry. The accomplishment of our missions was possible with the support of partners, both strategic and operational. We counted 7 partnerships which can be classified according to whether they are considered formal agreements, whether they are simple hosts of events organized by the group of users or whether they have associated us with events offering us forums to promote the free dissemination of knowledge.

• 4 Collaboration agreements with partners such as :

Wikifranca movement being formalized, ActuElles.info with the agreement to use its articles without copyright, The Kofi Annan University of Guinea which officially grants us 3 hours of workshops once a month and which has served as our headquarters since 2017. Katala224 allowed us to have a hundred photos and biographies in one evening.

• 11 Event hosts: 5 times at Kofi Annan University in Guinea, twice (2) at the Kiridy Bangoura Literary Circle in Kamsar, once at Lansana Conté General University in Sonfonia, once at Hamdallaye Kamsar High School, on Kassa Island beach, one at the Sheraton Grand Conakry Hotel and one at the Primat Center in Conakry;
• Invitations: More and More communication, Kiridi Bangoura Literary Circle of Kamsar, Supcoaching, Intelligencia Guinea and literary club of the Kofi Annan University of Guinea

Growing volunteer commitment

Wikimedia Community User Group Guinea Conakry organized '13 events in 2 cities (Conakry and kamsar) 'divided between workshops, outings, meetings, executive office, Assembly and monthly meeting.
These activities gave rise to "" several hours of work and volunteer commitment "". This commitment is made by "25 active people, 40% of whom are women". This significant share of women in the Association is marked by their strong presence in the executive staff where "" they hold 50% of the elective positions. ""
