Suggestions for local prizes

edit

Finalists from each country will be submitted to the global WLE event, where they would compete with other finalists for global prizes. We also have the option of awarding the top ten finalists from Sri Lanka as well. I suggest certificates for the top 25 entries, but I am not sure about the best prizes for top 10. Any suggestions? Rehman 06:20, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How about this an order like this, but it all depends on the budget:
  • Top 30 Entries - Participation Certificate
  • Top 10 Entries - WLE Sri Lanka Tshirts
  • Top 3 Entries - Cash Prizes (1st place LKR 40,000, 2nd Place LKR 25,000, 3rd Place LKR 15,000), and winning certificates
  • Top 1 Entry - Full-board overnight stay at a scenic hotel

Thanks for the feedback, Azeez. I responded to you separately, but summarising here again for transparency. As per the grant request (link above), we had to change the price structure. The final arrangement, as per the grant team's recommendations, is included in the grants page. Rehman 10:56, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

International round

edit

Hello everyone. As discussed on email, one of the WLE-LK participants have made it to the international round! Can we work on getting a good Sinhala and Tamil translation of the below caption by tomorrow latest?

  • English: Mother Toque macaque (Macaca Sinica) with her child foraging on the hard ground at Katagamuwa Sanctuary in Sri Lanka. Nature always belongs to those who nurture, care and protect it. But the humans have forcefully claimed it theirs and are on a path of destruction: destroying jungles, waterways and evicting the rightful owners, the wild animals. The Toque macaque (Macaca Sinica) loves to traverse on trees and to be as one with nature. But this click depicts their current plight. It was heartbreaking to see the mother with her child foraging on the hard ground at Katagamuwa Sanctuary.
