Israeli Wikipedians held their 16th meeting on Friday, 14th August 2009 at Ramat Hasharon. More than 25 wikipedians attended the gathering.

Winter 2008 - Hanuka meeting

Israeli Wikipedians held their 15th meeting on Friday, 26th December, 2008. The Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv provided a venue for the gathering, and traditional Hanuka food was served to the participants. More than 70 wikipedians attended the gathering. The event included 6 lectures.

Summer 2008

Israeli Wikipedians held their 14th meeting on Friday, 5th Septmber, 2008. The Phisics departement of theTechnion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa provided a venue for the gathering.

Some 50 people attended the meeting, most of them registered users in the Hebrew Wikipedia. The event included 7 lectures.


May 2008: Passover Picnik

Israeli Wikipedians held their 13th meeting on Friday, 2 May 2008. The meeting took the form of a picnik which was held in the Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. The pionic was attended by more than 60 wikipedians and family members.


October 2007: Succot Picnik

Israeli Wikipedians held their 12th meeting on Friday, 5th October 2007. The meeting took the form of a picnik which was held in the National Park in the National Park Ramat Gan.

 
       

March 2007: Passover Picnik

Israeli Wikipedians held their 11th meeting on Friday, 30th March 2007. The meeting took the form of a picnik which was held in the Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. At the picnik 25 kgs of meat, and 60 litters of soft drinks, three bottles of wine and three bottles of grapejuice were consumed, as well as more then 100 pitas and 8 Kg of Hummus.

 

December 2006

Israeli Wikipedians held their 10th meeting on Friday, December 15, 2006. The Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya provided a venue for the gathering, while the eve of Hanukkah lent the event a proper spirit of light and enlightenment.

Some 100 people attended the meeting, most of them registered users in the Hebrew Wikipedia. The organizers were users: Gilgamesh, Rotem and Harel. Itzike was in charge of public relations, and Shayakir acted as the M.C.

The event included 5 lectures. DrorK talked about Wikimania 2006 and briefed the local community about developments in other branches of Wikimedia. Shnili talked about the merits of recruiting senior citizen users and the various ways of achieving this goal. Tzahi Hayat spoke of his research concerning Wikipedia (he originally presented his research at Wikimania 2005). Edna Tal from the Israeli Open University introduced her project involving usage of media-wiki as a tool in academic courses. She also presented this project at Wikimania 2006.

The preparations to the conference received considerable coverage on Israeli media, as David Shay, the local bureaucrat, gave interviews on Galei Tzahal and Reshet Bet radio stations and on Israel 10 television station. The meeting itself was covered by the Israeli Web portal Nana (in Hebrew).
