Objective

edit

This is the second round of discussions with Punjabi Wikimedians, wherein the call for feedback was explained to community members in Punjabi, with the help of volunteers from the first round of discussions. The aim was to introduce the call for feedback to community members and capture their suggestions/comments and questions.

Feedback on specific ideas

edit
Regional seats
  • The question of who is going to vote for the regional seats needs to be discussed. While it doesn’t make sense for someone from Australia to vote on a regional seat allocated for Africa. But there might be people who would have migrated out (expats) but are still involved with the community, they should be allowed to vote for regional seats.
  • Even in regional seats, if the voting is limited to a region, if a language group has more number of eligible voters than others, then they might be able to easily influence the voting and get the candidate they favour the most elected.

Follow-up

edit

Though there were many community members, there wasn’t much discussion. The participants felt that it was too much information to process at once and they would need sometime to understand and give feedback. There were volunteers who showed interest in translating some information to Punjabi and vice versa for the feedback received. The facilitator will share short briefs for each idea and explore ways to collect feedback. If needed, another meeting will be organized.
