Message of the General Coordinator

It has been two years since the group was founded, but only one year since the Wikimedia Foundation, through its Affiliations Committee, made the recognition.

Since then, it has been a strong work, not only on my part, but also on the part of all the members that make up this group. Each one of them contributed their bit to get to where we are now and that momentum should be used for the empowerment of the group for the benefit of the movement.

I have started a path that my successors must continue and I am proud that the ideas of each one of us created what the group is today. We will continue to move forward together and to listen to the voices of the volunteers, an important and indispensable cog in the movement. We will continue to support small projects, both those of the Spanish language version as well as other versions that require our support.

Achieved goals

  • Recognition of other affiliated Wikimedia to the group,
  • Events in partnership with various projects and affiliates,
  • Growth in number of members compared to previous periods,
  • Approval of the first general support fund for the group,
  • Invitation of an annual conference for the group.

Challenges to surpass

  • Establishment of a juridical personality for the group,
  • Greater unit and collaboration between the members,
  • Group structuring,
  • Greater approach in the programming of the movement,
  • Diversity in activities directed to the Wikimedia projects,
  • To promote inclusive and safe spaces.
