editIt will be hosted online, Bobby had meetings with Belinda and Winnie, and they advised them to apply to host Wikimania, the money to host is 5000 USD, if individuals who want to host it can apply for 200USD, you can apply for small things such as data, childcare, etc.. as affiliates you can apply for things such as scholarships, affiliates can apply for in-person meet-ups, which can take place in two cities., this will be in Gauteng and Cape Town. We have to look at venues which can provide us with venues. Bobby will be looking to get 3700 rands for the grant. The foundation can provide communication and organize an event that has a performance that captures South African stories with a SA flavor, which has an Ubuntu theme.
Wiki Indaba
editIt will be happening soon, The chapter has been asked or rather nominated to apply for a grant application. Bobby will be leading, he would like to rope people with experience to come on board with assistance to organize the event and all logistics needed. They will be a need of assistance from bookkeepers. Douglas recused himself from wiki indaba.
WikimediaZA Website
editMoney is available and we have to make things happen. The chapter has decided to use word space, which is easy to maintain. We need to get out own saver. This is the direction we are going towards. Anyone can edit the website if given access. The next step is to decide on our savers, or we will get a new saver and we need a saver which provides reliability and efficiency. We can always stick with one grid. We can deploy a template from the previous server to the new site, which is one grid. It was said word press is reliable for phone users. Other board members are open to looking at other websites/ platforms. The Chapter is looking at having this word press. When the website is up and running it can be published on word press. The website will be updated, on the new website which Administrator will be trained as well as.
