Wikimedia User Group Nigeria/Wikimedia Hub, Ibadan

The Wikimedia Ibadan Hub is a Wikimedia hub under Wikimedia UG Nigeria. The hub will serve Wikimedians in Ibadan, South West Nigeria. This hub seeks to promote Wikimedia projects in Ibadan. We aim to organize several Wikimedia events, campaigns to create awareness about Wikimedia projects and trainings to recruit new editors. One of our core missions is to aid and encourage people to collect, develop and disseminate knowledge and other educational, cultural and historic content in the public domain or other licenses that allows everyone to freely use the knowledge, and to distribute and modify the contents for free. Wikimedia User Group Nigeria/Wikimedia Fan Club, University of Ibadan is also directly affiliated with this hub.

Objectives

To promote the use of Wikimedia projects by people in Ibadan
To help people in Ibadan learn how to contribute to Wikimedia projects
To organize in-person gatherings of Wikimedians in Ibadan
To promote Wikimedia projects and free content in general.
To encourage the use of Wikimedia resources in education (at cultural centers, associations and universities)
Photography trips and upload-a-thons to teach users how to upload images to Commons and how to use them;
