Wiki Loves Food 2017 - Photographic competition

Following the preparations during the previous month, on the 1st of November, we opened Wiki loves photographic contest, that we decided to focus on the food, especially on traditional Macedonian and regional dishes and cuisines. In previous years, Shared Knowledge have organized Wiki Loves Earth and Monuments photographic contest with significant success and this year it was decided that Shared Knowledge will organize Wiki Loves Food competition for the first time, which is in fact only the second Wiki Loves Food contest organized world wide, after its establishment by Wikimedia India in 2015. The contest was completed with 904 images uploaded by 67 registered contestants. By midd December, the jury composed of a professional photographer, a professional cook and a experienced member of the Wiki-community will choose the winning photographs which will be awarded at a special ceremony jointly organized with Slow Food Macedonia.

Lecture on Wikipedia

On 24th of November, in the conference hall of the National and University Library "St. Clement of Ohrid" our experienced Wiki-community members Toni Ristovski and Kiril Simeonovski held a lecture on editing articles on Wikipedia to the students of Psychology from the Student's Association "PSIHESKO" who participated on the edit-a-thon dedicated on Psychology held the next day. The two hour long lecture was also used participants to be acknowledged with all Wikipedia-related topics such as registering account, uploading images, licencing, participation in projects etc.

Psychology edit-a-thon

On 25th of November, as a part of the program within the manifestation "Days of psychology" the students of Psychology from the Student's Association "PSIHESKO" participated on the edit-a-thon dedicated on Psychology held in Piazza Liberta cafe in Skopje. The three hour long edit-a-thon was attended by 10 participants who have created and edited 15 psychology-related articles on the Macedonian Wikipedia. Most of the articles were edited through translator or directly by books and information from the students, which showed their skillfulness and interest in Wikipedia.

Wikimedia Conference Nederland 2017

Our administrative and community manager Ivan Zivkovik has visited the annual Wikimedia Conference in Netherlands from 2nd to 4th of November, which was primarily dedicated on digital contribution of Wikimedia, GLAM and other project of Dutch Wikipedia. Also, he had the chance to visit the offices where he discussed several joint projects between Macedonian and Dutch Wikipedia's such as joint exhibitions and cooperation in the domain of GLAM institutions in both countries.
