Reunión con Departamento Cultura y Comunicaciones de la Biblioteca Nacional

Resumen/reporte:
Marco Correa se reunió con Daniela Correa, jefa del Departamento de Cultura y Comunicaciones de la Biblioteca Nacional de Chile, para proponer la realización de alguna actividad en conjunto durante el Día del Patrimonio 2015, en el marco del Convenio de Colaboración firmado con la Biblioteca Nacional y Wikimedia Chile.

Se realiza la cuarta sesión de directorio, donde se trataron los siguientes temas: Detalles de la participación en la Wikimedia Conference 2015; definición del método de elección para los cupos de representatividad de Wikimedia Chile para asistir a Wikimanía 2015; planificación de la actividad del Día del Patrimonio; futura colaboración con el Centro Cultural de España y tramitación de solicitudes de socios pendientes.
Wikimedia Conference 2015

Resumen/reporte:
La conferencia anual de capítulos Wikimedia, donde se reúnen representantes de capítulos de todo el mundo, fue organizada el año 2015 por Wikimedia Alemania.
Asistieron a la conferencia dos miembros de Wikimedia Chile: Eduardo Testart, presidente de Wikimedia Chile, y Juan David Ruiz, tesorero de Wikimedia Chile. Los representantes asistieron a las sesiones generales y otras charlas y talleres especializados, en diversos temas de interés para Wikimedia Chile. También se reunieron, el primer día de la conferencia, con los representantes de los capítulos que conforman la Iniciativa de Cooperación Regional para Iberoamérica (Iberocoop).
El jueves 14 se participó de la pre-conferencia, un espacio donde se sostuvieron diversas charlas y talleres. Algunos de los más relevantes fueron el diseño de una propuesta SMART, el análisis de Wikimetrics y una actividad sobre diseños de encuestas y, durante la tarde, un taller sobre reportes y storytelling, así como también sobre el Program Toolkits centrado en Educación.
Durante el primer día de la conferencia se realiza una actividad con un sistema rotativo de micro conversaciones entre los participantes, y a continuación una actividad donde se recogieron ideas e información sobre el valor de las organizaciones locales en diferentes áreas. Por la tarde destacaron: La charla sobre los procesos, metas y logros de diferentes redes de cooperación regional, donde se presentó el caso de Iberocoop; las sesiones sobre el manejo de desafíos en la administración de un directorio; y la sesión de preguntas al Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC), para comprender mejor el funcionamiento del Annual Plan Grants (APG).
El segundo día comienza con una sesión que trató sobre cómo se puede lograr que la «calidad» se vuelva un hábito en nuestras organizaciones y, posteriormente destacan: la reunión entre la Junta Directiva de la Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) y los capítulos y organizaciones temáticas, la cual se desarrolla en mesas rotativas; y por la tarde la charla de Lila Tetrikov, directora ejecutiva de la Fundación Wikimedia, quien entrega su visión sobre el movimiento Wikimedia, la Fundación Wikimedia y la importancia de las organizaciones locales y grupos, seguida de una reflexión sobre esta misma charla.
El tercer día de la conferencia, comienza con las sesiones de discusión sobre la definición y medición del concepto de «impacto», a través de las Global Metrics, en el mundo Wikimedia y, en paralelo, una charla donde Wikimedia Reino Unido comparte las lecciones aprendidas sobre el manejo financiero y como éstas pueden resultar pertinentes para el resto de las organizaciones. A continuación se realiza una sesión donde se analizan las seis preguntas más relevantes surgidas del Chapters Dialogue y se genera un espacio para conversar sobre posibles respuestas o pasos a seguir. Luego se dio lugar a las dos últimas sesiones de la conferencia: La primera donde se discutió el modelo presente de la Conferencia Wikimedia y como podría cambiar para que su programa se vuelva más útil para el movimiento en el futuro y finalmente se realizó, como plenario de cierre de la conferencia, una sesión en que por primera vez se busca realizar un puente entre la Conferencia Wikimedia y Wikimanía.

Se realizó una reunión con María Eugenia Menéndez Reyes y Belén Quintana del Centro Cultural de España en Chile (CCE), donde se exploraron las alternativas de colaboración entre Wikimedia Chile y el CCE, discutiendo la posibilidad de realizar una editatón en paralelo con el Centro Cultural de España en Buenos Aires, junto a Wikimedia Argentina.
Taller de edición Wikipedia en la Universidad 2015 - UAH (II)

Se realizó la segunda sesión del proyecto Wikipedia en la cátedra de Comunicación Interactiva dictada en la Universidad Alberto Hurtado (UAH) por el profesor Enzo Abbagliati. En la ocasión, Marco Correa hizo una revisión de los avances de cada alumno, dándoles a conocer los aspectos positivos y negativos de sus artículos en desarrollo, y recalcó la importancia de no realizar plagios al escribir en Wikipedia.
Editatón del Día del Patrimonio

Resumen/reporte:
Se realizó una editatón en la Biblioteca Nacional de Chile a propósito de la celebración del Día del Patrimonio Cultural en nuestro país, durante el cual se abren al público museos, bibliotecas y otros lugares de interés patrimonial de todo el país en forma gratuita, siendo el tercer año consecutivo que Wikimedia Chile realizó un actividad en este día. La editatón se centró en la creación de artículos sobre el patrimonio cultural del país. En la jornada, los socios de Wikimedia Chile también fueron monitores a las decenas de visitantes a la Salón Bicentenario, a quienes explicaron cómo utilizar la enciclopedia y los recursos multimedia de Wikimedia Commons. Con un total de 11 editores, los participantes crearon 15 artículos nuevos relacionados con museos, monumentos y biografías de chilenos relacionados al ambiente de la cultura.

Wikimedia Conference 2015

Summary/report:
The annual conference of Wikimedia, where the representatives of chapters from all over the world attend, was organized in 2015 by Wikimedia Deutschland.
Two members of Wikimedia Chile attended the conference: Eduardo Testart, president of Wikimedia Chile, and Juan David Ruiz, treasurer of Wikimedia Chile. The representatives attended the general sessions, as well as other talks and specialized workshops, over an array of topics of interest to Wikimedia Chile. Also, during the first day of the conference they met with representatives of other chapters that form the Regional Cooperation initiative for Iberoamérica (Iberocoop).
Thursday 14, there was a pre-conference event, where various talks and workshops were held. Some of the most relevant topics covered was the design of the SMART proposal, analysis of Wikimetrics and an activity over survey design. During the afternoon, the activities continued with a workshop over reports and storytelling, as well as a section over Program Toolkits focused on Education.
During the first day of the conference a ‘round-robin’ activity was held, with a series of rotating micro-conversations between participants, and afterward in another segment, ideas and information were gathered over the value of local/public organizations in different areas. In the afternoon, some notable events were: A presentation over the processes, goals and achievements of different regional cooperation networks, where the case of Iberocoop was presented; sessions over managing the challenges in the administration of a Board of Directors; and a ‘Q & A’ session with the Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC), to better understand the function/structure of the Annual Plan Grants (APG).
The second day began with a session that covered how to achieve that ‘quality’ becomes a standard ‘habit’ throughout all of our organizations, and afterward: a meeting between the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) Board of Directors, and the chapters and thematic organizations, which was held in a series of table rotations. In the afternoon, Lila Tetrikov, Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation, who delivered her vision of the Wikimedia movement, the Foundation, as well as the importance of local organizations and groups, followed by a reflection over this same talk.
The third day of the conference, several sessions of discussion were held over the definition and measurement of the concept of ‘impact,’ by way of Global Metrics in Wikimedia; in parallel a talk was held where Wikimedia U.K. shared the lessons learned over the financial management and how this experience could turn out to be relevant for the rest of the organizations. Next, a session analyzed the six most relevant questions that resulted from the Chapters Dialogue, where a space was generated to discuss possible answers and or steps to follow. Later on, the last two sessions of the conference took place: In the first, the present model of the Wikimedia Conference was discussed and how the program could be changed so it could be more useful to the movement in the future; last, the closing general session was held, where for the first time a connection or bridge was attempted between the Wikimedia Conference and Wikimania.

A meeting took place with María Eugenia Menéndez Reyes and Belén Quintana, both from the "Centro Cultural de España" or Spanish Cultural Centre in Chile (CCE). Opportunities for collaboration between Wikimedia Chile and the CCE were considered, including a simultaneous edit-a-thon alongside Wikimedia Argentina and the CCS in Argentina.
Wikipedia in the University 2015 - UAH Edit-a-thon (II)

Summary/report:
Within the Interactive Communication class, supervised by Prof. Enzo Abbagliati, the second session of the Wikipedia project was held at the Alberto Hurtado University. Marco Correa reviewed the progress made by each student, pointing out the positive and negative aspects of their articles in-process, reinforcing the importance to not plagiarize when writing in Wikipedia.
Heritage Day Edit-a-thon

Summary/report:
The third Heritage Day Edit-a-thon took place at the National Library of Chile, under the National Heritage Day activities. Throughout the day, public museums, libraries and different points of historical interest are open and freely available to everyone interested in visiting them. This year, the edit-a-thon's main objective was the creation of Wikipedia articles related to the cultural heritage of Chile. Wikimedia Chile members acted as guides to dozens of visitors to the Salón Bicentenario and explained the uses of Wikipedia and the multimedia resources of Wikimedia Commons. Eleven editors participated in this activity and fifteen new articles were created, all of them related to museums, monuments and Chilean public figures that are culturally relevant.
