Sue Gardner has served as the Wikimedia Foundation's Executive Director since 2007. In March 2013, Sue announced that she is beginning to wrap up her time as the head of the Wikimedia Foundation. In May 2014, the Wikimedia Foundation announced that Lila Tretikov will take over as Executive Director starting June 1, 2014 and Sue will transition to a special advisor role.
