Wikimedians-in-residence at Pixelache
Pixelache 2002 > 2005 > 2022
editIn the year 2022, works on the archival process and reflections, this project will give updated skills and understanding within our membership, interested Finnish and regional peers, as well as an international example for other similar cultural associations involved in network culture.
In 2021 Pixelache Helsinki presented a festival dedicated to the BURN topic which included interaction with Z. Blace and Rebecca O'Neill and in 2022 it organized multiple Wikimedians in residence[1] who have worked in different facets of related themes and have used different media and methods (beyond text, mostly audio and workshops) to communicate their interests, aiming of creating open media podcasts, which explore connections between the open knowledge/content/infrastructures and cultural/civil society organisations.

editPixelache Wikimedians-in-residence is a small and experimental project with WMF support and Pixelache in-kind resource donation, with the kind promotion via Vorspiel Berlin festival.
- Project prototypes the combination of podcast production, research and reflection (residency) which focuses on Wikimedia and cultural organisational practices, including archiving.
- It discusses and reflects upon the long parallel history -20 years- of Pixelache Helsinki Festival and transdisciplinary platform, which has promoted open culture, and Wikimedia methodologies. Where have these overlapped, gone hand-in-hand and then diverged (reconcile ambitions of Wikimedia and Creative Commons).
People involved:
- Florence Nibart-Devouard, initially presented Wikipedia at 2005 PixelACHE, now WiR @ UN
- Z. Blace, presented home-grown TamTam Wiki and workshop to PixelACHE organizers, now Wikimedian
- ...
- #openMicWithPixelache research consultation was done on the Saturday, February 5th online as part of Vorspiel Berlin festival [2]
- Pixelache 2022 Wikimedian in Residence presentation was done on the Saturday, December 3rd in Kiasma, Helsinki
