Wikimedians of Kerala/Annual Report 2019-20

Wikimedians of Kerala User Group is a vibrant community of volunteers dedicated to contributing to various Wikimedia projects, with a special focus on Malayalam and other languages spoken in Kerala. Established to promote free knowledge and open collaboration, the group is actively involved in creating, improving, and curating content across multiple Wikimedia platforms.

Wikimedians of Kerala Annual Report 2019-20

This is the annual report of Wikimedians of Kerala User Group for the period October 2019 to September 2020.

This is the second year of the User group. This year we don't have any kind of financial grants or donations to report. Our annual meetup was held on 21st December 2019. In the annual meetup, we celebrated the Birthday of Malayalam Wikipedia.

We successfully organized the 7th Wikidata birthday on 29th October 2019. We organized 3 onsite workshops and an onsite edit-a-thon for Asian Month 2019 in November 2019.

As a part of popularising Commons to the general public, we organized an event called Wiki loves eclipse 2019. We joined hands with LUCA Science Magazine and conducted a photo contest to photograph the Solar eclipse happened on 26th December 2019. Curiefy science lab sponsored the prizes for the contest.

In collaboration with Malayalam Department in University of Kerala a 3 day Wikimedia training event was conducted as a part of National Seminar on Malayalam Computing. Dr. Sheeba M Kurian organized the event at the University. 32 Post Graduate students and Research scholors from Malayalam Department participated in the training.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, we cannot organize further onsite events in 2020. Instead, we organized a series of online workshops related to Malayalam Wikipedia and Wikidata.

We organized an online Label-a-thon in September 2020.
