Wikimedians of Kerala/Events/Introduction to Wikipedia at GHSS Kodungallur

Introductory training on wikipedia is given to the students of GHSS Kodungallur School. Fifteen students from 7th, 8th and 9th standard were present for the workshop. The program was conducted with support from GHSS Kodungallur.

Agenda

• To give an introduction to Wikipedia and sister projects to students.
• To add students to Malayalam Wikipedia.
• To create new articles in malayalam wikipedia.
• To contribute to wikimedia commons.

Activities

• An introduction to Wikipedia was given by Ambady in morning.
• KannanVM gave introductory training on Wikipedia editing.
• Mujeeb gave introduction to Wikimedia Commons and Article Creation at noon.
• Students were asked to start articles about their villages.

Outcomes

• Wikipedia and wikimedia projects were introduced to students.
• User pages for students were created.
• Students were allowed to edit articles under guidance.
• Five new articles were created.
• Photos of school was added to commons.
