Wikimedians of Minnesota User Group is a Wikimedia user group serving Wikimedians in the Minnesota area. It hosts edit-a-thons and community events to promote Wikimedia projects, as listed at the Wikipedia Minnesota meetup page.

Objectives

To promote Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects within Minnesota.
To collaboratively improve the quality of Wikimedia project content through edit-a-thons, workshops, educational programs, and more.
Combat systemic bias on Wikipedia
Help people around the state of Minnesota learn how to edit Wikimedia projects
To support any Wikimedia-oriented events or organizations operating within Minnesota
To establish a sense of community within our group.

History

The user group in January 2016 and became 'real' in 2018. During and after COVID-19, the group became inactive and was put on inactive status in March 2021. After that time there have been a handful of Wikimedia meetups and events in Minnesota. In 2024 the group reformed and has been meeting quarterly and is reapplying for active status.

WikiProject Minnesota

One of the major initiatives monitored by the group is the WikiProject Minnesota page. This WikiProject was formed to coordinate the development of better articles on the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wikimedians User Group is open to all. Feel free to add your username to the list below! Any active Wikimedian may sign themselves up. Participants who have not edited a Wikpedia page in 3 years will be removed to the "Inactive" roster.

To add yourself, edit the page and add {{:Minnesota Wikimedians User Group/Member Card|username=yourUsername}} to the bottom of the list, replacing yourUsername with your username.

You are also welcome (but have no obligation) to provide additional information with the following optional parameters: |name=Pat Smith replacing Pat Smith with your name, |image=example.png (can be a photo, fun icon, etc.), |imagesize=100px, |name=Jimbo, |subtitle=Editor, |location=Minnesota, and |project=en (if you want your userpage link to go to the English Wikipedia).
