Report of activities: 2022-2023

Overview

The Wikimedians of Santali Language User Group was approved on 21 September 2019 to contribute to the development of Santali Wikipedia and the Santali language. After the small steps leaping in the year 2021 -2022 the year 2022-2023 marked as the year of revival and collaboration. The user group participated in various online and off line event and conducted outreach event in this period. The report of activities of the User Group are as follows.

Online Event

The community participated in Wikidata Datathon event on the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2023 organised by CIA2K. Our user Joy Sagar Murmu, Bodi Baske, Bijendra Hansda participated in this event.
The members of the user group participated in Feminism and Folklore 2023.The event was conducted from 1st February 2023 to 31st March 2023. Eight users from the user Group Participated and contributed 87 articles in the event

The community participated in the Wikidata Training sessions for Santali Community conducted by the CIS-A2K as part of Indian Community Capacity Devlopment programme held from 28 th June 2023 to 23rd July 2023. The event was a weekly event. 11 active members from the community participated in this event.

On the occasion of 5th Anniversary of Santali Wikipedia the community conducted three days on line workshop from 02/08/2023 to 04/08/2023 The detail report can be found in the 5th Year Santali Wikipedia Anniversary

On the ocassion of 5th Anniversary of Santali Wikipedia the community conducted On line edit-a-thon from 02/06/2023 to 09/09/2023. In the event 10 users participated and contributed 764 articles.

Offline event

The Ramjit Tudu and Joy Sagar Murmu of the User Group participated in WikiConference India 2023. The event was conducted from 28th April to 30th April 2023
The community conducted outreach event at the 35th Annual Conference of All India Santali Writes Association (AISWA) at Gidhini, Jhargram, West Bengal India on 18th and 19th February 2023. This out reach event ia a regular annual event , in this event we tried to meet with many people which includes the writers , youth, student of the santali community. In the two days event we tried to aware the people about the Santali Wikipedia. Some of the clips of the event can be found in the Category:35th AISWA Conference 2023 of wikimedia commons.
The 12 community users participated and conducted Indic Wiki Improve-a-thon 2022 on the theme of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav at Baba Tilka Library Patra Mahulbani, Bahalda, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, India on 01/01/2023. In thsi event the community members created 11 new articles and improved 6 existing artilces. These articles could be found on Category:Indic Wiki Improve-a-thon 2022. New Achievement/Initiatives

Bijendra Hansda and Ramesh Murmu surpassed the 1000 articles in Wikipedia.
The community contributed 2657 artilces from september 2022 to August 2023 with an average of 221 articles per month.
In the August 2023 the community conributed 537 artilces in a month which is the highest in single month in the last two years.
Sekhar Murmu, Kaira Bskey, Sunia kisku, Braja Kishore Tudu are the new active user/editor joined wikipedia.
Nirmal Baske, Kalipada, Swapan Hasda, Indrajit Murmu have been activated in this period.
After the Wiktionary the community has driven itself to Wiki data.

Resolutions

This year the community was much active than the last year.
The community seems back to the track after covid.
The community now plans to have a off line event within the community active members for more interactive discussion and exploring new ideas from the community members.
The community will be engaged in continuous training program for the new users to new Wikipedia and its sister projects.
