This is a draft competition rule that must be approved by the Organizer.
The Wikipedia Asian Month 2019 is organized by Li-Yun Lin and AddisWang (hereinafter “Organizers” and “Organizer”). The preparation and course of the competition are provided by the person or persons authorized by the Organizer. The evaluation of the competition is provided by a jury authorized by the Organizer.
1. Aim of the competition
- 1. Enrich various language versions of Wikipedia with quality articles on Asia.
2. Theme
- 2.1 The main theme of the competition is “Asia” (meaning Asian culture, Asian sport, Asian science, Asian prominent people, etc.).
- 2.2 If you are hesitant as a participant whether your topic fits the main topic (or whether Asia is sufficiently relevant), consult it witch the Organizer - ideally on the contest discussion page.
3. Participation and registration
- 3.1 Any individual who has the right to edit a given version of Wikipedia and who has a user account can participate in the Contest. The condition of participation is not the publication of a civic identity (name, surname).
- 3.2 Participants are encouraged to allow contact via e-mail in the Wikipedia interface (see account log in instructions), otherwise they will only be contacted on their discussion page if they win.
- 3.3 Participants must enter the competition through the “Fountain” tool (on this page). They will do this before they work on the article(s).
4. Other conditions of the competition
- 4.1 The competition takes place from 1 November 2019 0:00:00 UTC to 30 November 2019 23:59:59 UTC (inclusive).
- 4.2 Each participant may process any number of entries.
- 4.3 The aim of the participants (as well as the prize condition) is to create at least 4 articles on the language version of Wikipedia that meet these conditions during the contest.
- 4.5 Information or translations of parts of texts from other language versions of Wikipedia or other duly licensed free resources may be used provided that the rules for accepting and citing such resources are respected.
5. Jury
- 5.1 The Organizer sets up a jury to carry out the competition in order to evaluate the competition.
- 5.2 Judges' user names will be published on the competition page. The organizer reserves the right to change or amend the jury during the competition.
6. Evaluation
- 6.1 On this page, users will record their articles and the jury will evaluate them continuously.
- 6.2 The jury will evaluate all articles recorded on this site. Articles can be added to Fountain until November 30, 2019 23:59:59 UTC (inclusive).
- 6.3 If during the competition the rules for the inclusion of articles in the Good or Best list are substantially changed, the contest organizers will set up a page where potential Good Articles can be entered and discarded for evaluation purposes. the articles listed on this page will be taken into account.
- 6.4 By December 14, 2019, the jury will evaluate the competition articles based on the above criteria.
- 6.5 The jury will compose the ranking of the 3 editors who will score the most points and will award their authors with special Wikipedia 2019 Asian Month Medal Awards. For editors who receive at least 4 points, the Organizer will send postcards from Asia to the address specified.
- 6.6 The results will be announced on the competition page.
7. Communication
- 7.1 Official announcements, in particular changes to the competition rules and data contained therein, decisions of the jury and the official announcement of the results of the competition, will be published by the Organizer on the contest page of the respective Wikipedia version.
8. Changes of rules
- 8.1 These rules come into effect on 1 November 2019. Before 1 November 2019, the competition may also be canceled. The organizer may at any time after this time, without giving any reasons, and must ensure that the fairness of the competition is maintained.
- 8.2 The organizer cannot shorten or extend the duration of the competition after the announcement of the competition.
