Local workshops

edit

Apart of gathering international participants to write the articles, another goal of this project is to engage the local Tunisian community. That is why we are intending to organize a series of workshops for members of Mawjoudin, the NGO organizing the Queer Film Festival.

Photography Workshop

edit

On the 11th of December 2018, we will have the first workshop that will focus on the media team of Mawjoudin. In fact, and as part of the policy of the organization, only some specific people can take photos during the activities of the association and share them later, in order to protect the participants and their privacy. With this workshop, we will introduce the team to a new tool they can use to communicate about their work: Wikimedia Commons.

Gathering references

edit

Pre-editathon

edit

Apart of the fact that there is not enough reliable or biased references to use when it comes to such topics in Tunisia, most of the ones existing are in French as it is a French speaking country. This will make it more difficult for participants to translate or use the references while creating the articles as most of them do not understand French.

So as a way to solve this issue, and to engage even more the local community, we will organize from January to March 2019 a series of Wikipedia workshops where the Mawjoudin community members will learn to edit on Wikipedia and create the maximum of possible articles in English using French references, so that international participants who will join later can translate them in their languages.

1st workshop

edit

On the 16th of February, we hosted the first writing workshop with the Mawjoudin's community, after they shared a call for participants that 22 filled. We had about 15 participants aged between 18 and 32 years who are willing to write in arabic, english and french.
