Wikis World/2023-09

Happy September, we're up to 11 months of Wikis World! Wow. As of 2023-09-15 we have 150 users, up from last month's 141.

It's been a relatively quiet month, with a little excitement when we crossed the 10GB mark in our database, which happened to be the limit in our hosting plan! We've now upgraded to the next tier ("Constellation"), which should serve us to about 500 active users. We're certainly planning to be around long term as we've also renewed the wikis.world domain for another two years.

Following discussion (drama even) about another server, we explicitly stated that we support people posting in whichever language they want to. We're glad to see that Fosstodon has since removed their English-only policy following feedback from their community.

The Mastodon developers have been working on the upcoming 4.2.0 release, you can read about some of the upcoming changes. The most significant change is that you'll be able to opt-in to fulltext search of your public posts. Provided our hosting provider supports it, we plan to turn on this functionality shortly after we upgrade. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns with this.
