CIS-A2K/Events/Workshop in MKCL regarding Vanbodh project with TRTI

Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) is acting as technology provider for State Tribal department. CIS-A2K is facilitating the process of building open knowledge resource. MKCL organised this workshop to orient the key persons in the team to fundamentals of Wiki projects.

Background

In collaboration with Tribal Research & Training Institute (TRTI) under State Tribal Development department, project Van bodh is taking shape. The technology partner is Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL). The objectives are - Developing new and utilising existing Open & free platforms to build knowledge resources on Community Forest Management, Development of training modules in Unicode & make it accessible by common man, Digitisation of reference books, training booklets, govt docs, archives, images etc and making it accessible.

  • To identify the technical issues involved in developing Van Bodh repository
  • To orient MKCL staff towards the necessities of the project
  • To test the scanning and OCR results of completed documents

A day long workshop was conducted to test the material being prepared and process of uploading the same on Wikimedia projects. The technical issues of OCR, image processing, copyright issues involved while uploading to Commons were discussed at length.
